I think these numbers will be right around where he'll be if he gets a chance to play everyday. I hope he has a fast start to the season though. Otherwise he's doomed.
That's news to me. So Cedeno will start either at 2B if we trade Walker or SS if we can't get Furcal? Is that the plan? "Earned starting jobs" and "guaranteed starting jobs" are two very different things. Remember who coaches this team...
We was ready to accept $1.5 million, and declined it, but by all reports it wasn't because of money, it was organizational politics. You and Theo splitting the money?
Gammons said Esptein might just take the year off. Maybe the Cubs will look at him in 2007 after Hendry blows it again this year. I don't think the Cubs will pay the GM 2.5 mil. Sorry to burst the dream. I don't think any team is going to pay a GM 2.5 mil. The highest paid right now is Schuerholz in Atlanta and he makes 1.7 mil.
His K rate is terrible, but he doesn't walk very many and doesn't give up many homeruns. Might be a good change of pace with the rest of the high K/high walk pitchers we have in the bullpen. He'd have to come cheap though.
I agree - I've always thought he was one of the most overrated minds in baseball. My impression is that he's very good at dissecting in game situations, but terrible when it comes to evaluating players and teams as a whole. If you need to know what's going to happen the next play before the ball is pitched Stoney is your man. I wouldn't say he'd be a good GM or manager though. I almost wish he'd just go back to Arizona and stay away from Chicago. I'm tired of hearing about him.
O ye, of little faith I was kidding (mostly). Gammons seems to have tons of inside information about what teams are going after what players. He just doesn't seem to put that information to good use when he makes his predictions.
Did Gammons say anything about Neifi or Macias? :D I guess this means that we can cross Furcal and Giles off of our list. No way they're coming here now.
