  1. So can we pencil in Rusch as our 5th starter then? Same starting rotation as last year? That really worked well for us...
  2. I get really nervous everytime I see there's a new post in this thread. :ohnoes:
  3. You didn't. It got moved to social. Edit: And then promptly moved back to baseball discussions. Must be ghosts hanging round NSBB. Edit 2: And then moved back to Social. Seriously, what's going on? Halloween joke?
  4. Can we just lock this thread now?
  5. I think we should ask Bartosh or Welly how they like the 12-man pitching staff.
  6. Looks like the Red Sox and Epstein came to an agreement on a 3-year extension
  7. I can't imagine why the Cubs would want Soriano - the exact opposite of the kind of hitter we need. But the toolsy type player that Hendry seems to covet.
  8. So you're okay with the Cubs going into 2006 with Prior, Z, Wood (if healthy), Maddux, and Rusch/Williams? I just don't know what we're going to get from Woody and Maddux/Rusch/Williams aren't enough on the back end for me. You can never have enough starting pitching. The offense should definitely be upgraded as well though. I just think with all the money the Cubs have to spend this offseason that they can afford to get another good starter to make our rotation one of the tops, if not tops, in the NL.
  9. I'm all for trading for an innings eater like Hernandez or Zito. Either that or I'd like to see Hendry take a run at Millwood. I'd pass on Pavano. He's never struck me as that great of a pitcher and he's coming off an injury-ridden season.
  10. Go ahead and talk about it now. i was over on the Michgan side (sec 110) and the Michigan fans around me were freely admitting it. Missed the game. What happened in this game that was examples of Michigan getting calls--again. I'm a diehard Michigan fan (went to school there) and even I think Michigan got a ton of calls. Not that it made a difference in the game though. NW's offense decided that it would take the game off. But Michigan got a lot of good spots that helped them get first downs, non pass intereference calls when Michigan was on defense, and then phantom pass intereferece calls when Michigan was on offense. NW definitely hurt themselves quite a bit though with the center getting like 12 holding calls just himself.
  11. How about Chad Tracy for right field? D'Backs may trade Tracy
  12. Michigan beats NW 33-17. Jon is not going to be happy when he gets home. :D
  13. Wow. Talk about walking that fine line.
  14. Florida State losing 21-14 to Maryland at the half.
  15. Syracuse still has a football team? I thought they stopped the program once McNabb left. :D
  16. he tied his own hands with the sammy video drama. no sympathy here, not after watching a 100 million dollar team put up a sub-.500 record. walk on water? hendry is treading water right now. one more '05 performance and we take off the floaties. so he should have brought sosa back?? That was a lost cause any which way. Some people are quite fickle. Some of the people blasting Hendry are the same one's who were advocating signing Beltran last offseason. That wouldn't panned out either. If anyone was saying, sign Pedro, or sign Jermaine Dye or sign Eckstein, then they should be entitled to gripe. He's not saying that Sosa should have been brought back, he's saying why let it be known that Sosa was caught on video tape leaving the final game if you were planning on trading him. That really tied Hendry's hands because it pretty much meant that Sammy had to be traded. didn't the media catch him? The media were informed by "unnamed team officials".
  17. They're having a press conference at 4pm CT. Do they announce anything else at the press conference or are they just announcing that Depo has been fired?

  19. UNC with a big interception in their own endzone for a touchback. Miami was driving it down their throats. Still 16-7.
  20. Geez, UNC had an easy touchdown but the wide reciever drops the easy catch.
  21. Looks like Manny has asked for a trade once again.
  22. There should be an option of "yes, but I'm losing faith quickly"
  23. Yay!!! Let's bring back the same exact team as last year and hope that injuries were the reason we sucked last year. World Series here we come!!! :wall:
  24. I can't believe Rusch would agree to come back unless he was guaranteed a rotation spot. He started to make noise about that at the end of the year, IIRC. At least that's where he would theoretically be at his best. If we use him as a swing guy again he's going to suck. His stats as a reliever are Estes-esque. At least as a starter he was okay. And let me go on record saying that unless we get a really good impact bat, I'd rather have Williams be the 5th starter with Hill as the swingman and save $2.5m than resign Rusch. Like I said, it's a total Linus move. Let's hope it's the only Linus move this winter. Let's hope that this is all a bad dream and that Rusch doesn't sign with us. It still isn't official, right? I'm still holding on to hope that Hendry isn't this dumb.
