  1. #-o [-X I guess that's proof I should stop trying to be a smart ass all the time.
  2. Really the only player I see Hendry signing this offseason is Furcal. I see the rest of the holes being filled by trades. And if Furcal is serious about thinking he's worth 5 years and $50 million, then I can definitely see Hendry turning his back on all FA. I think he's already turned his back on Giles.
  3. Stl Today Please sign Jacque Jones. Please sign Jacque Jones.
  4. Looks like Hendry is in no rush to sign Furcal
  5. Maybe the Cubs have interest in Bradley after all?? It's the NY Daily News though... NY Daily News
  6. Like I said in the other thread, this is just his agent trying to get as much money as possible for Furcal, just like Boras saying Beltran wanted a 10-year contract last offseason. I wouldn't worry too much about it. I expect 4 years in the $36-40 million range will get it done.
  7. Normal agent talk IMO. Try and get as much money as you can by telling the media ridiculous #'s and saying you're open to playing anywhere. Remember last year and Beltran's 10-year hopes. I wouldn't worry too much about it.
  8. I asked you a couple weeks ago how your performance is measured at your place of employment. You seemed unable to give me an answer. What does USS' performance measurement at work have to do with anything? This is about how to measure a pitcher's performance and you can't measure that by wins. Wins is a team stat. Roger Clemens is the perfect example. He only won 13 games this year because the Astros' offense was pathetic behind him. He had the best ERA in the game. If he were playing for the Cardinals he would probably have had more wins than Carpenter this year. Clemens and Wood are not even in the same league. Clemens has won with every team-good and bad. Clemens finishes what he starts. Yet he only won 13 game this year. So by your standards of 20 games being a good year, he had a awful one, right?

  10. Found this little blurb in the Tampa Tribune Are we just bidding against ourselves for Furcal?
  11. Angel Guzman? I think they would want some talent to go with Guzman considering his injury risk. Guzman and Hill might get it done, though. I'd give the Reds Guzman and Hill for Dunn and not think twice about it.
  12. I don't think he's going to be happy reading a letter where his name is mispelled over and over again.
  13. Can anyone realistically see Hendry getting Dunn over Kearns? I can't. Hendry loves Kearns. Hendry would also probably be paying low for Kearns because he had an up and down season last year. I just don't see Dunn as someone Hendry will go after seroiusly. I can definitely see Hendry going after Kearns though.
  14. Philly Inquirer If that's all it's going to cost to get Abreu Hendry better be all over this.
  15. check Rivalries.
  16. Gotta love the front page of ESPN. Instead of saying something to congratulate Carp they have "Sorry Dontrelle..." Cards' fans over at stltoday.com aren't too happy about it.
  17. We could have the "killer Zs" and pipe in snoring. And the Cubs could sell space to sleeping pill companies on the ad board behind home plate. It's marketing genius Poudre. :D
  18. Carpenter won with 132 first-place votes, Willis had 112 first-place votes, and Clemens was a distant 3rd with 40 first-place votes.
  19. Just announced on ESPN news.
  20. I can only imagine the amount of pie jokes we're going to hear once Felix is in the big leagues...
  21. I don't really think it's a big deal. Of course the Marlins are going to ask for Pie. I'm sure Hendry wanted Cabrera thrown into the deal as well. You have to start high in your asking price. I'm not too worried about it.
  22. How about a trade like this: Cubs get Bradley Dodgers get Dusty and a lifetime supply of toothpicks Are we getting enough in that deal? :D
  23. Anyone else getting sick of hearing about the stupid Mets? They've become the Yankees this year. They seem to be a focal point in all offseason discussions so far. How much money do the Mets have to spend this offseason?
  24. Caught this little blurb in a Newsday article If Abreu really is available I hope Hendry is thinking seriously about putting together a package for him.
