  1. I can't believe Rusch would agree to come back unless he was guaranteed a rotation spot. He started to make noise about that at the end of the year, IIRC. I guess I won't be watching in 2006 then.
  2. This signing makes me think that Hill and Williams are on the trading block this winter. Rusch better be the long-man/6th starter in the rotation. If Hendry did this with Rusch in mind as the 5th starter I'm not watching the Cubs in 2006.
  3. We're kidding.
  4. release him. Oh geez. He's a cancer. Get him out of here. I bet he makes young kids cry too.
  5. Thirded. We need an innings eater who doesn't have health issues.
  6. Stay away from your windows...
  7. I have to say I'm glad I'm not living in Chicago. Good luck Cub fans from Chicago.
  8. God this game is boring. The White Sox better win tonight. I'm dying for some hot stove.
  9. They're kidding. UK loves Michaels and would love him to be on the Cubs. He suggests getting Michaels in at least 1 thread per day.
  10. Just get it over White Sox so we can start the offseason.
  11. I'll be there. Hope it lives up to the last MI - NU game in Evanston. Northwestern is fun to watch and this certainly is an interesting matchup. I think Depaul could beat Syracuse in football this year 1908...you guys missed your chance! I have a really bad feeling about the MI/NU game. I get the feeling Northwestern is going to score about 60 points on Michigan's terrible defense. I know I'm in the minority, but let's hope Hart is back healthy and the Michigan offense plays to it's potential. Otherwise it's going to be a long day for Maize and Blue.
  12. double by Biggio, single from Berkman Cool. Thanks
  13. Way to step in and put your foot down Selig. This was a hugely important issue. Glad you could come to the rescue. Oswalt will be dominant once again tonight with the Astros winning. Of course there will be at least one terrible call by the umpires that goes the White Sox way. It's just a matter of which inning it will happen in this time...
  14. Check out the polls forum. This was already posted there. Premium Forum Regular Forum
  15. Yeah, but you aren't getting those games for free. You're paying $150 to watch all the games. I definitely miss the days when all of the Cubs games were on WGN. Now I shell out the $150 for EI and have to listen to the opposing teams' broadcasters half the time.
  16. Wow, they just needed the "moran" sign and that would have been a classic. Good stuff.
  17. Looks like the Rockies have interest in bringing Neifi back to Colorado. From the Rocky Mountain News: Here's hoping that the Rockies give Neifi an offer that he can't refuse. Rotoworld speculates that the Yankees might have interest in him as well.
  18. I think Hendry is going to go with strong defense up the middle, and I don't know if Nomar would be even a viable option at 2nd base. I'd really be worried about his defense at second, and him making the turns on double plays. I think Hendry will make a trade to get us a high OBP/high SLG rightfielder. If he doesn't we're going to have another year of crap production from the outfield and another year of missing the playoffs.
  19. The bolded ones also happen to have pretty dismal offenses. And Anaheim didn't have the pitching to maintain, and the Sox and Astros got stellar pitching performances in the postseason that allowed them to overcome their offenses. You can get by with marginal OBP, but why would you want to if you have a choice? What other better choices are there though? There isn't a long list of stellar leadoff men around. Just like there aren't a bunch of great right fielders around. I don't see how .355 is marginal either. How about looking at the top offenses this year like Boston and the Yankees who scored the most runs. What do they have in common? They both have very high OBP, the 2 highest in the Majors. They also have the 2 biggest budgets in baseball, which pays for really good hitters, and Damon and JetAh are fast. Damon and Jeter had 18 and 14 stolen bases respectively. Not exactly burning up the base paths.
  20. I'd be the first to help Lloyd Carr on a plane out of Ann Arbor. His conservative managing has hurt U of M way more than it's helped them.

  22. Sox fans are going to be insufferable for decades. glad I don't live in chicago. y'all better hope the cubs get their act together quickly. Agreed. Luckily I live near Detroit where all the teams pretty much suck (except for the Red Wings, but come on, who really cares). Edit: Forgot about the Pistons. Don't really mind them winning all that much.
