  1. It's like the Seinfield episode where George does all this crap trying to get fired by the Yankees, but the Yankees for some reason don't fire him. Hendry is doing his darndest to go out in a ball of flames, but the Cubs are too stupid to see it.
  2. Let's see, Hendry signed Neifi, Rusch, and J. Jones to multi-year contracts. I'm pretty sure he does have a plan. It's called sticking it to the Cubs after he's fired. :x
  3. This is a family board so I can't post a picture of my reaction. It wasn't pretty.
  4. Yeah, Cpatt was the reason we didn't win games last year. It was all his fault. Are you just trying to be different or do you actually believe this stuff?
  5. KC, and thanks to Dusty's wonderful skills, he only had to pay $1m more than the Royals offered. So have we officially overpaid everyone we've signed? Exactly what good is Dusty Baker at this point? Because anyone could fill out a lineup card and rattle off cliches. Haha. We had to outbid the freakin Royals. How sad is that? I hate this organization.
  6. I don't think it is. Now Hendry has several options: 1. He can trade Pie as part of a deal for Tejada and have all three OF positions set. 2. He can platoon Jones and Murton if Pie is playing for the Cubs in 2007. 3. He can platoon Jones and Hairston or another rightie this year. Please tell me you're joking? A platoon of Jones and Hairston? Yeah, that will produce some massive offensive numbers... Not ideal, admittedly, but against LHP Murton is much more of a power bat, and Hairston could bat 2nd against LHP. Jones has some very good numbers when facing RHP, which some on this board overlook. Can you show me somewhere in Jones' stats that back up this claim because I sure don't see it.
  7. I think we should take a page from Detroit Lion fans. Start a "Fire Hendry" march for opening day and wear cardinal shirts throughout the season. Stupid Cubs.
  8. Haha. He took the Cubs' biggest weakness, OBP, and made it worse. We would have been better off with Burnitz in RF. He at least takes a walk now and then.
  9. Jacque Jones isn't going to win you anything. This is a pure panic move because Hendry doesn't seem to understand the concept of there being a next year. He seems to work from year to year without worrying about the future.

  11. You should get a 1-week ban for doing that.
  12. I can honestly say I would have been less angry had he exercised Burnitz's option, if I knew this were the result.. At least it was only for one year. Are you kidding? I would have loved Burnitz for 1 year and $7 million compared to this crap. What a complete joke.
  13. Tree, if you somehow include a vicious critique of this signing in with the Wood surgery question at the Peoria stop, it's now up to $75. make it 90 (tickets are 15 dollars) and you're on seriously, you can write what you want me to say and everything. if i have to submit a question, ill just write something about how much i love pierre, and then read my own thing when i get up there. let's do this. It's on. Its so on. Awesome. I'm going to have to drive to Peoria to see this.
  14. Yeah, he had a lot of glowing comments... I liked his comment about Jones being "a guy who can score from 1st base on a double." Awesome. Just what we needed. :wall:
  15. Merry Freakin' Christmas Cub fans. You get J. Jones for 3 years. :puke:
  16. Levine is calling it a pretty good deal. Levine is a freaking idiot.
  17. ESPN 1000 just said it's a 3-year deal worth $16 million. I'm seriously thinking about switching favorite teams.
  18. Good to hear Corey was offered arbitration. Also, I guess Prior was arb eligible. I don't like the quote from Hendry on J. Jones though. Hopefully Jones turns the Cubs offer down. Oh yeah. Can't wait for him to steal $3 million from us this year. Unbelievable. What's the difference? We're giving freakin' Neifi $2.5 next year. Hopefully Hendry can find a good trade for Corey and get something instead of nothing.
  19. Jones 3-year splits during day games: .245 .292 .390 .682 :puke: :puke: :puke: :puke:

  21. I doubt the A's would trade for the guy and then just non-tender him. Haven't heard anything about it though, so who knows.
  22. Rotoworld: Pretty expensive for a guy coming off major elbow surgery. Plus he won't be available to pitch until June. Seems a bit pricey.
  23. I find it humorous that the Cubs are willing to trade away Cpatt, but are willing to sign a Cpatt clone in J. Jones. Why not just keep Cpatt if all we can get is Jones. Cpatt will give pretty much the same production for half the price. If this happens I'm not going to be very happy.
