  1. At this point it might be better for him to work things out in AAA with Von Joshua than being platooned with frickin Freddy Bynum and working with the clowns that are Sarge and Clines.
  2. Can't wait to hear Ozzie's response to that. Larussa has more excuses than Dusty does. No way he could man up to the fact that they got whipped this past week by the White Sox. Had to chalk up the embarrassment to something.
  3. It's amazing how bad the officiating has been. The Swiss were just given a goal on an obvious offsides. The referee's assistant called the offsides, but for some reason the main referee overruled the offsides. Just a terrible call. The announcers are just besides themselves on how bad the officials have been.
  4. Why even play Prior? I'd just shut him down and get him ready for next year. We aren't going anywhere... Because, as we've learned in the past, the Cubs front office will never admit that they are out of the playoff race. It would be way too smart to shut down Prior for the rest of the year and let him work things out before next year, but the Cubs will never do it. I'm expecting Hendry to add some band-aid piece like Trot Nixon to platoon with Murton in LF, and hope the additions of Lee and Prior will help this crappy team make a run.
  5. I know! I don't get it? Once he gets to the majors he can't pitch a strike to save his life. His fastball is average at best as is his change. How's he doing it in AAA? Does he look different? Little known fact. Major league hitters are better than minor league hitters. When players move up a level it takes time to adjust. Most guys struggle, and many even look awful while going through that adjustment period. And most adjustment periods take longer than a handful of starts. I can see struggling meaning he's getting hard, but struggling to throw stikes is what's the strange part. In AAA he doesn't walk anyone but in the majors he walks the world. Major league hitters are more patient. Yeah, but most of his pitches were missing by a mile. It seems more like a head thing than stuff thing. It's like he just doesn't trust his stuff when he gets to the Big Leagues. It's not like he was getting hammered when he was on the big club. He was just walking everyone in sight. I agree that he needs to be brought back up and told that he's starting the rest of the season for the major league club. Take the pressure off the kid and see what he can do. Every one of his starts so far he's had to produce immediately or worry about losing his job to Rusch.
  6. ITI has a post-game Q and A session with Miller Hope that's a misprint. 82-85 mph fastball isn't going to cut it. Not that I expect much from Miller anyway.
  7. Doubtful. Here's my scenario. Fire Baker, Rothschild, Clines, Pole and Matthews. Promote Spier to interim manager. Promote Von Joshua as interim hitting coach. See if Billy Williams will serve as third base or bench coach for the interim. Promote other guys within the organization to serve in the other capaities. At the end of the season, interview Gonzalez, Dierker, and even Spier. Hopefully, Davey Johnson will be available for an interview as well. The new manager can select his own staff. That plan works for me - I like it. Both Bruce Miles and Kiley are absolutely spot on with their respective articles today. The safe bet is Bob Brenly. Why go for the safe bet? Because it's the Cubs, and they always seem to do the exact opposite of what we want them to do. Case in point: J. Jones, Neifi, Rusch, platooning Murton, Bynum, J. Pierre, etc.
  8. Sounds like just speculation from the writer, but I thought it was interesting. I wonder if Hendry is having thoughts about trading Aram.
  9. Freddi Gonzalez or Larry Dierker please. I'd pass on Pineilla. Actually, I'd probably take anything over Dusty at this point.
  10. We gained a half game. Only 14 games out now. There's still hope. :pint:
  11. Hawk just said that Reyes has been "doin' some chunkin'" tonight. What the hell does that mean?
  12. I'm watching the game on CSN, and it can't be said enough that Hawk and DJ are idiots. How these two have jobs is beyond me.
  13. Reyes' changeup is filthy. The Cards definitely have a keeper if he can stay healthy.
  14. I wonder why Prior was pushed back, and why there hasn't been any explanation given by the Cubs. It's like the Cubs were hoping no one would notice the change. I could be wrong, but I think they moved Prior back because the Twins pushed Bonser's start back a day. I don't think the Cubs ever wanted Prior to oppose Santana; I think they're trying to keep the pressure off him to be at his best while also giving themselves the best chance to win. Link I guess that makes sense. I feel bad for Marmol though. The Cubs' offense isn't even gonna give him a chance tommorow against Santana.
  15. I wonder why Prior was pushed back, and why there hasn't been any explanation given by the Cubs. It's like the Cubs were hoping no one would notice the change.
  16. Was he really that useful in the first place?
  17. Anyone hear anything on why Prior has been pushed back a day to Saturday? He was scheduled to pitch on Friday, but cubs.com now has him listed on Saturday with Marmol pitching tommorow.
  18. Wow, nice stop by the Japan goalie there. 40 foot goal for Brazil.
  19. It's not exactly like Giles is producing this year. His line so far this year: .244/.330/.358/.688 I would definitely be up for trading Dempster though. He's got a very reasonable contract and there are quite a few contenders who need bullpen help. We could really fleece a team if Hendry plays his cards right.
  20. And if they win every series between now and August 2, we'll be at 500.
  21. I see Carlos' dead arm is continuing. Glad Dusty didn't give him an extra day or two off. :x
  22. Neifi is a good bunter dude. It's about speed on the bases and small ball. We don't have the horses right now, so we have to score any way we can dude. I know Pierre hasn't been getting on base that much, but the dude is due for some good luck. He's just been hitting it right at people. Pretty soon that grounder to 2b is gonna start going through the 2nd baseman's legs. OBP? What's that dude?
  23. I'd just like to see the NY fans response to every time Jones throws the ball straight into the ground when he's trying to throw out a runner.
