  1. And there's a perfect example of why Dusty shouldn't be allowed to finish out the year. Instead of seeing Murton we get to see Angel Pagan look like the 2nd coming of Neifi Perez when he bats. The Cubs just don't get it.

  3. Anyone else starting to get the feeling that all the other NL Central teams are getting better while the Cubs just keep getting worse? I feel like we're going to be battling the Pirates for last place in the division the next couple of years. :x
  4. For $13M, I had better be getting a lot more than a 717 OPS and shoddy defense, but that really doesn't have much to do with this thread. To put it into context, Furcal and his .717 OPS is making just $1M less than Pujols and his 1.145 OPS.
  5. Brewers have been stuggling as of late. I think they might see themselves as sellers now. Don't know if they are still looking to add at this point.
  6. I wouldn't bet on it. How many players in the Hendry era have received 5 year contracts (or longer)? He was willing to go five years to get Furcal. Luckily the Dodgers saved us on that one.
  7. From Rotoworld: Is it pretty much a given that the Cubs will be the team to give him 5 years and $65 million? :x
  8. Wonderful. Guess we'll being seeing a lot of Neifi, Bynum, Nevin, and Pagan the rest of the year.
  9. Rumor has it that he walked off the set right after that argument (your memory is correct, it was over A-Rod) -- they cut to commercial, came back and he was gone. Who was arguing which point? IIRC, Harold was saying A-Rod would never be as good as he could be in New York and that the Yankees should trade him. Kruk was saying that A-Rod should get tougher and deal with the pressure.
  10. Worst organization ever. When was the last time a guy actually was healthy after coming off the DL? The Cubs are always in a rush to get "their horses" back. I don't see other organizations having the same problems that the Cubs have regularly.
  11. I find this quote amazing coming from the same guy that has made sure to point out time after time that he has had rookies playing as well as players on the DL. It's amazing to me since Dusty trots out players like Neifi and Rusch who have been terrible for years. They seemingly get chance after chance to produce, which they don't, but a rookie who's dominated AAA but has struggled while at the Major League Level doesn't get a fair chance to show he can produce at this level. A rookie has to come up and dominate or worry about losing his spot on the team to crappy veterans.
  12. No. He just had forearm cramping last game. He's actually pitching today (doing well so far) for Iowa.
  13. This coming from the guy who can't even spell Maddux right.
  14. Prior doesn't even make it out of the 4th inning. And to make matters worse, we have Glendon coming in with 2 runners on. I'm sure this will turn out well.
  15. Worst. Joke. Ever.
  16. Of course. The one coach who I didn't hate on this crappy team gets booted because of off-the-field problems. Of course the Cubs don't give a crap about on-the-field problems. They just use the blame game.
  17. That depends on if he can take his hand away from his crotch long enough to wave the runner in.
  18. It's not just fans. It's 99% of the media and Big George. And I'd bet some other higher ups share the doubts. Is it because ARod didn't go face first into the stands? I just don't get it. He's not as "clutch" as Jeter.
  19. Didn't Guzman have problems last year or the year before with his right forearm? He was out for quite a while with the problem, right? Hopefully it was just cramping like the article says.
  20. The Tribune
  21. Gotta get Nevin and Neifi their at-bats. They're such important cogs in this team's future. I hate the Cobs sometimes.
  22. Looks like I might have to make a trip up to Lansing on July 23rd. :D
  23. It's amazing that Z has a 9-3 record on this horrible team.
  24. Harvey is terrible. He should be converted into a pitcher immediately.
  25. This crap would only happen to the Cubs. How does this even happen? Why was Z anywhere near Cora as he was hitting ground balls?
