  1. I've been proposed Zambrano for Soriano and I think its a tough call so I was hoping for some input. I'm first in the non-keeper league of 12 and really shouldn't have to worry about making the playoffs... just winning them. But I have suffered some significant injuries that are big question marks. The stats are R, HR, RBI, SB, BB, K, E, AVG, OPS and IP, W, L, SV, HR allowed, K, HLD, ERA, WHIP. I believe that elite SP's are more valuable in this league than any other position. But Soriano could put my team on his back and win me the league if he's on. Geovany Soto Kevin Youkilis Plácido Polanco Chipper Jones Ramón Vázquez Alfonso Soriano Pat Burrell Milton Bradley Nate McLouth Bengie Molina Michael Bourn Travis Hafner Josh Willingham Troy Tulowitzki Jurrgens Hudson K Rod Saito Scherzer Kershaw Kobayashi (although I think I am going to pick up Dan Wheeler or another rp to replace him in the next couple days) Heath Bell Peavy Thoughts greatly appreciated.
  2. Zambrano told the guys to stick it to Barrett??
  3. I'm watching him right now. They all look the same to me. It never ceases to amaze me how little some peopl actually see when watching a game. Nor does it amaze me how much people see beyond what is actually happening. It you dont think hitters shorten their swings, push the ball, swing for contact, etc... you have no idea what youre talking about what does it matter what you see? it's probably a lie or a half-truth, anyway. Sulley breaking out the Plato... well played.
  4. I'd prefer half-strength swings. C'mon you know theres a difference between a fast uppercut swing and a regular swing. I really don't think most major-league hitters have different swings. It's hard enough to hit a freaking baseball without trying out a bunch of different swings. Maybe an outside pitch swing and an inside pitch swing, but that's about it. So you're the Cubs fan who has never seen Aramis Ramirez bat. Check him out sometime. Or Sosa, he used to swing as hard as he could and you could see him pull his eyes off the ball. It drove me nuts. Take the good with the bad. Aramis is better about shortening it up when he needs to... most of the time anyways.

  6. I think he's spot on in that paragraph... not that it'll make any difference.
  7. What does Will Ohman have to do with anything in this thread?
  8. I'd likely do it regardless but the amount of reservation I had would depend on the stats. 5x5, its close. A more progressive stat system that gives more benefit for rate stats... in a heart beat. Regardless, I wouldn't be scared to sell high on Uggla if you can.
  9. What I don't get is why anyone could think that being 1 game below 500 on the road with this sample size means anything. I even heard ESPN refer to it as "the chink in the Cubs armor." There are only FOUR teams in the majors with above 500 records on the road and only the Angels and Phillies are better than 1 game over.
  10. Brewers. Meh. I think he means that team with a 120-119 Pythagorean record over the last two seasons, including 27-30 this season. And yet, they have enough talent and resources to make a run. Who said that their talent was playing at full potential the last season and a half. I think your unhealthy angst towards anything Wisconsin is blinding you into worrying about the Brewers a little too much.
  11. That is ridiculous. How does Michael Bourn get anywhere near 100K votes, I know I have him on my Fantasy team for steals and all but he's hitting just a notch above his weight. I wonder if the hometown fans of the Astros in Vance's hometown are trying to get back at him... :-k
  12. Unfortunately they've been winning with this. Hasn't Michael Borne had an unusually high percentage of big games against the Cubs? I don't like the term Cub killer, but the way I am remembering things, he seems to be on his way to being one. He's had 15 career plate appearances against the Cubs with a .214/.267/.357 line. He has 2 stolen bases. And a broken leg.
  13. I'm no expert but I'd probably do it.... with a big caveat saying that it depends on the league's stats and what you need and do well in. If its one of those leagues like the two that I am in that over value premium starting pitching I'd do it... then you have Escobar to step in.
  14. Glad there's no Edmonds in today's lineup... looks like they may actually stick by the whole platoon argument for once. But what happened to worrying about splitting up all of those right handed hitters? Wow.
  15. what he said Why does Vance need freeing?
  16. Joe Saunders for Geo straight up.
  17. explain I'm not saying that having these players makes someone a bad manager that looks good, especially in your case where you knew what you were doing. However, Youk is like a top 25 player in all of fantasy right now, and no one saw that coming. I'm more talking about guys that clueless managers selected late to fill void that are vastly outperforming their expections. Mainly, I'm just bitter, because the guy winning my league right now has been largely inactive, and had his team auto-picked in the draft. As of yesterday, he had 3 guys starting that are on the D.L. and Carl Crawford on the bench. Konerko and Tejada are just dominating for him right now... and it's irritating. That's what I figured ;) Don't worry come late July, early August you won't have to worry about him.
  18. Who? Very good point!
  19. Why does everyone insist on bringing race into the equation of this move so much? YOU'RE putting words/thoughts in Carlos's head without knowing what's going on. Maybe Z is just thinking in sole baseball sense that this is one of the dumbest moves the team could make... race be darned.
  20. I'm gonna go kill myself. The Cubs management makes me feel: adfhafhauiawhgkjsguigi2h1h!@H$UH#(%($$$$@LTHasdfaisbvwoooooojhbgvsd&^TR#$&^TG$ right now. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: Nothing good will come of this.
  21. Carlos Marmols more making a crazy manager look out of his soap dropping mind. Theres no question Marmols the best reliever alive, but pitching him in some of the situations Lou has is just downright ridiculous. Did you catch that this was a fantasy discussion? You don't get post counts that high in 11 months by paying attention all the time.
  22. Some of the names listed are players that someone usually drafted in the later rounds with some logic behind the pick. i.e. I drafted Youkilis late because of his flexibility to back up both my 1b and 3b and the stats of my league take into consideration some of the things he's typically done well. How does that make me a bad manager? You want me to be ashamed that I'm riding his hot streak? If we're talking about players making bad managers look good shouldn't we be listing players that would usually be a reach but are somehow playing up to where these foolish managers selected them in the draft? If that's the criteria The Riot is the only one I've seen that qualifies.
  23. Softball here in paradise tonight... hopefully I can be talking trash to the Cards fans while the Cubs are winning another and the Cards are being what the Cards should be.
  24. Anyone going to capitalize on this financially and start selling t-shirts at Wrigley with Edmonds name with one of those circles with the line through it? Or there could even be a picture of eyeliner, an unnecessary dive, and an 80s style cut off shirt in that circle as well. Gold mine, I tell you! As a fan among mostly cardinals fan who has given those cardinal fans some much grief for their pretty boy cf'er, I may have to go into hiding if this happens.
