  1. That's not a fact. Its as much as a fact as the Felix Pie would be great given the chance to play full time arguement. More of a speculation. I thought you were done posting in this thread?
  2. Is there such a thing as a good loss? I think the reference is to sometimes there are losses where you go... oh well, just wasn't our day, let's go out and get em tomorrow boys.. you know one of the 60 you're pretty much guaranteed to lose every year. Then there are losses that make you go into a profanity laced tirade. Those would be the bad losses.
  3. Considering the pick you used to get him and the likelihood of not having a viable long-term replacement, I think you have to keep him. In the league that I have him, I am going to swap him for Soriano in my DL spot and already picked up Aybar, who thankfully was available.
  4. Anyone doing the First Pitch tickets? I am thinking about doing it Saturday but didn't know how early before the window opens at 9 I should get there to be one of the first 275 people.
  5. Room for another one in that boat? Thank God for Yahoo being slow, at least I'll have a bit of time to give the Dbacks a chance to explain what his role is going to be. If your not currently first in the waiver order I would take a shot. Not worth waiting when you might not even get him to begin with. Unfortunately, I've found myself with the first waiver claim much earlier than I normally like, which means I have tough decisions on who to use it on. The Dbacks are going to stick him in the pen right now. Edgar Gonzalez has been perfectly adequate, Owings has been very good, RJ is healthy (right now), and when Davis comes back in a couple weeks they will already have 6 men for 5 spots. Also, Scherzer only pitched 106.6 innings last year, so the DBacks aren't going to want him to go over 140 this year. Of course, the other side of the coin is that they will probably want him to reach around there so they can get him up to around 170 in 2009. Hes pitched 23 so far, so that means he'll have to be starting again sometime (and somewhere) again this season. This is such a tough call because of the depth in the rotation that the DBacks have... I'm more tempted to do it after his performance last night though... nasty stuff. Someone please slap me around with sample size and Price, Kershaw, etc. will be better arguments.
  6. I know there was an article on this in the Yahoo Fantast Sports section but I'd like to get the opinion of this board on it. I have 2nd waiver priority in a 20 team keeper league and a team filled with "bleh" pitching. Do I use my waiver on Mad Max now that he's been called up or wait on someone better... Clayton Kershaw... David Price (if he comes up this year)... or someone else that I am not thinking of?
  7. I also say No in a tougher call than the "hell no" above but I like Chris B. Young. But you could do it and then I think you'd set a record for number of players on a fantasy team that qualify at 1B.
  8. twice on sunday.
  9. I know its selling low but perhaps someone is interested in trading something for him? Maybe its worth putting feelers out there or you may be able to get something better in the FA pool. Either way, I'd get rid of him, no life in that arm and I'm guessing its going to take him till next season to get back into something close to his old form.
  10. Why does this mean Pie has lost his job? Did Murton suddenly morph into a CF'er or something?
  11. Everyone in that league should with those categories.
  12. In a 20 team keeper league, I am considering a move with my OF. There's 3 OF spots and 1 util, with stats of R, H, HR, RBI, SB, BB, BA, OBP, and OPS. I currently have OF of Raul Ibanez, Manny, Chris B. Young, Torii Hunter, Corey Patterson, and Mike Cameron. There aren't any good infielders available since its a 20 team league and I hope to make a trade with one of my 3 older OF to get younger in other areas of need. Pie and Colby Rasmus are availble, would any of you drop CPatt or Cameron for one of those guys. Remember it is a keeper league and because of my current depth at OF Corey or Cameron won't see much playing time barring an injury or me being able to make a trade. Oh and speed is pretty much totally lacking on my team beside marginal benefits from young, utley and russel martin (if he can start getting on base).
  13. Scared of what nsbb is turning into?
  14. I played 14 innings of softball yesterday so I don't see what the big deal is. :ninja: But since I don't have a game tonight, Cubs you can go ahead and win this one in 9 innings for everyone else's sake.
  15. If it makes you feel better Wolf, Barton was someone's original 10 keepers so wasn't even available in the draft. I may pick up Jurrgens to help ease the Kelvim Escobar disaster. Wolf, are we going to see Colby this year? And actually do anything?
  16. Soriano's the lead off hitter now remember and that's that. [/paraphrase of Lou]
  17. Sounds like a co-worker of mine. Do you guys know of a polite way to tell him to STFU and quit sending me "Lilly Sucks" emails and other overreactionary emails?
  18. :: reserving space to give my answer in September ::
  19. Like nearly all things in life... the reality is somewhere between the two extremes. I'll use myself for an example (not that I am an elite athlete like major leaguers, but that I am human like them), I played in High school and play a good amount of softball every summer and when its a tough situation I'm likely to put too much pressure on myself and force things rather playing within myself. Is it possible that some major leaguers do the same thing... perhaps... is it possible that some big leaguers are the polar opposite... probably. But is it something that can be reliably quantified? Meh. Is it the end-all be-all of how to evaluate a hitter? No. Before you flame away, all I am trying to say is that the new wave of statistical analysis that is popular here has substantial value but not to the point of excluding other forms of analysis.
  20. Can't we use a jedi mind trick to convince them that who they really want to be their 5th starter is Dempster???
  21. CC has to fall apart at some point after all of the use doesn't he?
  22. I don't like Rowand or Burnett. Can you get someone else to fill their slots with still doing using Bay and Hamilton/Shields as the base?
  23. Who is that?
  24. I'm in a 20 team keeper league and I'm trying to think of all the players who may not have been owned last year that can bring some solid value to such a deep league. So far the list I've got is: Michael Bourn, Billy Butler, Cameron Maybin, and Kosuke Fukudome. I know I'm forgetting some imports or others. Ideas?
