  1. Scott Baker (4-6) is going for the Twins today. Somehow, this season he has managed to simultaneously post both a 5.59 ERA and only a 1.17 WHIP. He's won three of his last four starts, going at least 8 innings in two of those three wins. In his last outing against Oakland, he went 8 innings, gave up 3 runs on 4 hits, and threw 116 pitches. Theodore Lilly (7-4) will be taking the hill for the Cubs today. He is the last pitcher to notch a win for this team, after pitching 6.2 innings of shutout baseball in Houston, with 2BB and 4K. He is coming off his two highest pitch counts of the season, throwing 114 in Houston and 108 before that in Atlanta. On 24 May, Lilly allowed 5 runs in 6.1 innings in San Diego. Other than that, he has notched a quality start every time out since the beginning of May.
  2. That ball got smoked. Nice meatball Patton.
  3. Geo swinging for the fences and popping up a rainmaker.
  4. LMAO. I'm not even mad anymore. This is effing HILARIOUS!!
  5. Dear Riot, You are not a power hitter.
  6. That was scary off the bat. We're just lucky Miles was short enough to get to it.
  7. Nice turn Miles. Please go away.
  8. Milton didn't seem to like that bat.
  9. Adolfo smokes one down the line.
  10. The question I was just asking myself is, isn't it sad that the number of points the Cubs have on the board somehow affects who in the bullpen is best suited to appear in the bottom of the inning? I'm a numbers guy and appreciate stats with the geekiest, but I am very highly opposed to the save stat for this reason.
  11. I'm pretty sure Bradley is going to explode on field one of these days.
  12. Z finishing the inning is only half of it. If the Cubs don't score in the 9th, chances of seeing marmol remain good.
  13. Fukucopter to end the scoring chance. ND for Z.
  14. Ryan Braun? Tough call. For me, tie goes to whoever the Cubs are playing.
  15. Pence couldn't have looked any worse and still made that play.
  16. Crap. A complete lack of offense may come back to haunt us. Who knew.
  17. Z was cruising until 0-2, and now he loses his release point.
  18. Maybe they pushed him past his limit and he still hasn't recovered! I thought that happened when he was still in Cleveland.
  19. Nice inning, Cobs. Maybe you can keep Wandy in there a couple more innings. Opposing CGs?
  20. Bradley swung, and grabbed at his back leg before leaving the batter's box. Then continued stretching at first base after being doubled off by 40 feet.
  21. Lucky it wasn't his groin. The timing was Nomar-esque.
