  1. With all the extras Cubs have been playing, Cubs may as well drop Miles in favor of another bullpen spot.
  2. I wonder how long it will take Cob hitters to figure out that this guy will pound the back door all day.
  3. Depends on whether or not survival is relative to how Lilly fares against Cleveland's lineup.
  4. Adolfo and Riot jump starting the offense today.
  5. I guess they've decided their only shot at offense is playing from behind.
  6. I swear, if this is the start of the upturn that turns this season into a third consecutive epic ride into the post-season, only to top off the journey with a third consecutive epic post-season failure, I'm going to lose it. If Cobs baseball is going to be exciting again, at least have the courtesy to force a game 5, or don't even bother waking up.
  7. Indeed they did. DeRo and Wood are still two of my five favorite Cubs ever, so I'm glad they got the welcome they deserved. Also, I'm glad DeRo's offense wasn't enough and Wood blew the save, because Cubs Win will always be more important.
  8. I had to miss this game. Did Woody and DeRo get their ovations?
  9. By "the crazy two out comeback", is it the Rich Hill 5-run first inning that ended with the ARam 3-run walkoff? "Ramirez hits a drive... DEEEEP LEFT CENTERRR!!!! [squeak]CUUUBS WIIIIINNN!!!!!!![/squeak]" For one perfect moment, all was right with the world.
  10. What's better is that our winning streak has lasted 3 days now. This is the hottest Cubs baseball has been in six weeks.
  11. Original post has been updated with today's new pitching matchups as per cubs.com.
  12. I'm busy hating this season's bullpen. I don't need painful reminders of Antonio to distract me.
  13. On the bright side, we should get to see a Becker marathon instead! \:D/
  14. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v483/cubbybear314/dempstercopy.jpg Ryan Dempster (4-3, 3.87) comes into today's game having lasted at least 6 innings in 12 of his first 13 starts of the season, 8 of which were quality starts. In his three starts since the Pirates came to town and roughed him up on Freddy Sanchez day, Dempster has allowed just one earned run in 20 innings, accompanied with a puny little WHIP of 1.0 in that span. He also chased a bear away from the dugout after the fifth inning (pictured above). danks (4-5) takes the mound for the white sox. Since the middle of May, he has allowed 25 runs in 33 innings, and frankly, he just looks lost out there. He's way out of his element, and today the bottom line is that he's clearly outmatched by a superior team. Experts and baseball analysts across the board liken him to a modern-day Eddie Gaedel--sure, he's good for a few laughs and can even get the job done if he gets lucky enough, but when push comes to shove, he's genetically unfit for the game of baseball. It's science. Go Cobs.
  15. Count me in the sad-but-not-surprised camp. Sammy made Cubs baseball exciting, even when the team didn't. Then there was the HR to tie game 1... [/goosebumps]
  16. The weather doesn't look too promising. Any chance they get this in?
  17. How soon I forget it's not a day game. I'll probably only get to see the first two or three innings. Actually, considering this offense and Z starting, I may get to see 6 or 7.
  18. I'll take a ticket if you can get me back here for work by 10pm :(
  19. That's crazy talk, man. You're crazy.
  20. You are very right. Correction has been made. Speaking of corrections..... why are there capital letters in white sox ?? I didn't realize this was an offense. Thanks for correcting me, o wise moderator.
  21. You are very right. Correction has been made.
  22. Danks (4-5) takes the mound for the White Sox. His last start, he gave up 2 runs in 7.1 innings. He threw 101 pitches and would have lasted a lot longer, but he came down with a sudden case of Cub envy, a highly contagious condition he caught from being around his fan base for so long. Zambrano (4-2) is coming off a performance in Houston in which he allowed 1 run on 3 hits over 8 innings, and, as you would expect with such a mediocre performance, had to settle for the no decision. Let's see if the Cubs can build on this monster of a winning streak they've got going.
