  1. Particularly annoying is the Cubs tendency to make the Astros look better than they are. Don't forget the Reds. Pirates, Marlins, Rangers, etc etc
  2. Pat and Ron said that the second one SHOULD have been scored a passed ball, but that the official score for both of them is WP as of now.
  3. Please don't blow this, Cobs. We all know you suck, but Houston sucks worse. At least, they're supposed to.
  4. Your work and guests really need to pester you at a less-pivotal point in the season. That's bullcrap. This from the kid that blows off the CUBS game to go jump out of a perfectly good airplane ???? A) No such thing as a "perfectly good airplane" B) I could have been blowing off the Bears game instead, which was equally frustrating to watch. C) It WAS a less-pivotal point in the season - Cubs were busy getting smoked by the Pirates, not beating the crap out of St Louis.
  5. I can't tell if this thread is debating what it means to be an ace or who the best/most reliable pitcher is. I hope it's the latter, because the former is pointless. As of right now, if all 5 starters were on enough rest and there was only one game left that mattered, Ted Lilly most consistently gives the team a chance to win, and I think Hill and Marquis are a tie for second. Zambrano easily has the highest ceiling on the staff, and in the three seasons prior to this one, he has easily been "ace" material, but he's been very bipolar this season, with plenty more games on the crappy end of the spectrum. To respond to the previous post asking about whether yesterday or tomorrow matters more, I think cubbiechris nailed it to say that it's always today that matters most, and Lilly is that guy on this team.
  6. When a game is PPD before reaching the 5-inning mark, the whole game is scrapped and started from scratch at a later date. A game is only resumed in progress if it was suspended, not postponed.
  7. Sean Marshall killed Lou's dog.
  8. Your work and guests really need to pester you at a less-pivotal point in the season. That's bullcrap.
  9. If Trachsel is on a short leash for this game, hopefully Marshall is ready in the bullpen to fill in any missing innings and receives a chance to earn his job back.
  10. Unfortunately the Cubs have the same trouble walking into a bad team's park in Houston that the Brewers do in Pittsburgh. If they manage to actually win a series in the juice box, that lead could be right back up to two games.
  11. YOU Bob's been dropped, go ahead and start til you lose, Flames. Yes, please do. I'm not too far back in the rotation, and I'd like a chance to redeem my only start.
  12. I don't think there's any inbetween; you either think Wuertz is awesome or you despise him. It fluctuates from batter to batter! He's been pretty soap dropping bad lately. I miss when he was a stud. It'd be nice if he and Marmol were both unhittable at the same time.
  13. I'm guessing another walk or two and Wuertz won't be around long enough to give those runs up.
  14. When was the last time Wood pitched? I'd love to see him nail this one down. He went yesterday. I wouldn't exactly call it pitching though. Oh right. Forgot about that one. Thanks. I went skydiving instead of following the game yesterday, and when I got home and found the score, I didn't bother reading anything about it.
  15. When was the last time Wood pitched? I'd love to see him nail this one down.
  16. Will you settle for 4 this weekend?
  17. Fixed. Cubs face Wandy during that series. I thought they missed him. Cubs wont face Wandy, thank goodness. Believe they go against Backe Albers and Williams. All righties......advantage Cubs. If the Astros really wanted to play spoiler, they should adjust the rotation and get him into that series. If they do, maybe the Cubs could save their rotation and bullpen and just forfeit the game. They need the offday anyway.
  18. Also, I probably won't be posting when the game ends, so thanks again Illiniguy and anyone else who contributed to the pbp. You pretty much saved my afternoon from an otherwise certain excrutiating boredom.
  19. DeRosa was pulled the next half inning, so it must have been him. Dont want to downplay it, but better him then Soriano or Ramirez. Hope hes OK though. Can anyone elaborate to those of us stuck in Game Day land? read the thread it was the ump Thats a relief. For a moment there, I though it might be someone who mattered. When it happened, a couple posts appeared that just said "crap" and "that hurts" So I was a bit concerned at first :) Sometimes when I get too caught up in the game and simultaneously caught up in posting my reactions to the game, I start accidentally posting my reactions to bowel movements too. Sorry.
  20. Fixed. Cubs face Wandy during that series. I thought they missed him. Pat and Ron were graoning about it a few games ago - I don't know if the Astros skipped anyone or made a change or what. Or maybe they miss him.
  21. Fixed. Cubs face Wandy during that series.
  22. I don't. This brand of "boring" baseball is fine by me.
