  1. No Soto? Good lineup anyway, but I was hoping to see him start.
  2. That was my first thought as well.
  3. I'm pretty indifferent about keeping Marmol in for the 8th, but bringing him in for the seventh was about as right of a call as Lou could have made. We saw yesterday how quickly the Pirates can put up a couple basehits, and a couple hits is all it would have taken for the Cubs to blow their lead. I also believe that had they blown their lead, the team simply wouldn't recover. Today's win was very important, Marmol was used in about as critical of a situation as there could be with a 4-run lead, and he delivered yet again. (If the sac fly he gave up were about ten feet to the left and had been a grand slam, using Marmol still would have been the right call.)
  4. Demp goes 1-2-3 !!! CUBS WIN! CUBS WIN!
  5. I wish the ump would have done a better job of getting in position to get a good view of that play. He was nowhere close.
  6. Jones RBI triple!! Against a lefty too!
  7. Paulino Pierre'd! Still 4-1 Cubs.
  8. In Z's defense, the ump has been calling the low strike all game - I remember one to Lee in particular that looked a lot like Z's 1-2 pitch there. Marmol needs to shut it down.
  9. Marmol is a stud, pure and simple.
  10. That's where I land in the debate, though Marmol just about served up a tie game right there.

  12. That was strike 4 to Paulino, based on what has been a relatively consistent strike zone so far tonight.
  13. I feel more comfortable with him on the mound than I would if I were Pittsburgh with Morris. I agree that the pitching matchup favors the Cubs, but figuring in the offesnes that each pitcher will face, I believe it will be advantage Pirates.
  14. It was an error on LaRoche, so Jones doesn't get the RBI there, does he? Depends on whether the run would have scored without the error or not. I'm not watching the game so I can't answer that question. I can't imagine they would award the RBI then - Kendall held up and watched the play until the ball kicked away. Pirates just doubled their hit count for the evening. Z is slipping.

  16. Morgan looked like he was audition for the Cubs with defense like that. Nice hit Kendall!
  17. Good play and another good inning for Z. I really missed this whole Z being good thing. He should keep it up.
  18. Thanks. Not efficient enough to go the distance, but definitely looking good - I wonder if this is his third startover to the season.
  19. Z's dealing bigtime tonight. Anyone got his PC?
  20. Probably did - based on his reaction, I was surprised it was so close to not leaving the park.
  21. Strike 2 to Lee looked WAY low.
  22. SORI!! He almost got robbed, but 3-0 Cubs!
  23. When was the last time a Cub executed a bunt?? Good work, Z.
