  1. I'll be behind the Cubs dugout, about 2,300 miles back :(
  2. I WISH I LIVED IN CHICAGO!! SHFLDJASDSDHDJKLDHASJKDASKDJASHDJKSH You should. It's the best City in the U.S. I just wish we had the best fans in baseball. :(
  3. Still 9.5 hours until gametime. Today is projecting to be slooooooow...
  4. Cubs didn't use Marmol, Howry, or Dempster yesterday, so 6 innings would be plenty from Z.
  5. Tonight's win was pretty huge, so I've gotta play the hot hand and go with Will Ohman.
  6. My first Z game was similar - it was the first weekend of '04, and Z allowed the Braves 1 run thru 8 innings, but he was in line to lose 1-0 until Hollandsworth tied it with a 2-out HR off Smoltz. Cubs won in 15. I'll try to remember that one over the one I saw with soccer where he allowed the tater to Matt Cain and his .068 BA. Z really needs to keep the ball rolling this game. Oh man, I remember the game thread for that game, it went over 100 pages. My stupid best friend got married that weekend, so I had to drive 2 hrs to see the game that night (I bumped the bachelor party up to Thursday night), drive 2 hrs home to be the best man and miss Saturday's game, then drive 2 hrs back to Atlanta to see KW beat the Braves 10-2. Today, my friend wishes he would have let me talk him into going to the Cubs game instead.
  7. Living up to his projected off-the-charts VORG (value over replacement grit), Ryan started a 3-run Riot and was solely responsible for the win tonight.

  9. I've been to one Z game and he gave up a 2-run HR to Matt Cain. I was this close to permanently blocking that game from memory. Stupid Z :x
  10. I know, seriously. If anyone wants to meet up at Knuckle's at the Hyatt near Mark thomas Drive and the coastal freeway, let me know. Anyone? Fine. Pat and Ron and gamethread it is. Jerks. They're like Sally Struthers eating cake in front of starving Africa babies. Funny you should mention ... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v483/cubbybear314/Random%20Cool%20Shit/311_sallys.jpg
  11. I'm going to print that out and keep a copy in my wallet. Do they archive these things? I want to see the Cubs-Rockies game from 6-25-07, next to the Cubs-Brewers game from 6-29-07, next to this one. I think that Cubs-Rockies would be the best one because there should have been large spikes in both directions in the 9th. Total awesomeness. Yep. Just type in the date in that little text box here. 6/25/07 6/29/07 Awesome, thanks. I like how the 9th inning spikes in the one against Colorado shape out a big W. Also, I like quoting tonight's fan graph and making it show up again. :D Geovany Soto.
  12. If we're gonna start comparing mistakes, mine is getting optimistic again.

  15. I ahd to go over to Brewerfan.net just to see what the reaction was over there, and the Cubs game thread was almost as long (6 pages) as the Brewers game thread (7 pages). They're a good community over there and it was an enjoyable lurk, especially when they were all pumped about the 6-4 lead and I knew what was coming. Definitely can't get enough of this game. 6-29 and 9-17 are two dates I'll have etched into my head after this season. Holy crap. I still haven't calmed down. I planned on being asleep for over an hour by now.
  16. hahaha awesome. thanks. AALLLLL RIGHT!!! ........ .. YEAAHH! GO!! GO!! COME ON!! COME ON!! yyyyyYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!! <3 Santo
  17. If those videos didn't satisfy your hunger, then open up the linescore on the right, and click on the bottom half of the inning. I'm not an mlb.tv subscriber, but the archived games have worked for me with some regularity, and I am now watching the bottom of the ninth in its entirety.
  18. man he hit a home run now? awesome. I don't know where the Cubs would be without those five homeruns Ramirez hit in the bottom of the ninth. NORAD has the third one re-entering the atmosphere within the last five minutes. I still can't believe his 61 RBIs tonight. Too bad he doesn't hustle.
  19. That's so awesome. DeRosa is always so animated when someone else is the walkoff hero, so it's cool to see him being the one to get mobbed this time. It's fun to see how much he enjoys his job.
  20. No idea on where to find it yet, but - I don't remember it too clearly, as I was having an aneurism at the time as well, but I think Santo's call on the Ramirez double is a little more vintage Santo than on the final play. Definitely remember to check out the tying hit.
  21. When Lou made the double switch to put in Soto, he got halfway to the mound, then walked back to the ump to tell him about the switch. The rule states that you have to inform the ump before crossing the baseline. Soto was the next batter for the Cubs, in what would have been the pitcher's spot.
  22. I can't imagine that this game would rank up there with George Brett as the only two games which the league office has seen fit to step in and overrule the umpires the next day. Umpires get enough scrutiny as it is, and it would create a HUGE controversy on more than just the Selig-owns-the-Brewers level. Umpires have had no problem calling Lou out and not letting him make the switch. If they didn't see fit to do so today, there's no way Selig goes back and corrects them.
  23. Baseball can't get any more boring than tonight's snoozefest. Hopefully these bums give us something worth watching tomorrow.
