  1. I am pretty sure they would get 330ish thousand not 500k. Please, please no. I don't think he is going to decline that option.
  2. Lawton in right would be mighty ugly.
  3. How many DPs? Will he GDP more then Neifi? Only time will tell. If they had an equal amount of at bats, Neifi would have far more. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/statistics/sortable/index.php?cid=128 Click on last and you will see Neifi around the bottom.
  4. You can go here for individuals: http://www.baseballprospectus.com/statistics/sortable/index.php?cid=128
  5. With their 7th selection and 64th overall, the midway monsters select RB Michael Bennett of the Minnesota Vikings.
  6. This is why you should read the whole thread CT :P
  7. With their 6th selection and 57th overall, the midway monsters select WR Steve Smith of the Carolina Panthers.
  8. If we want to shape the team differently, we should get some corner outfielders that can hit and not trade away our players that are good. That would mean keeping Todd Walker because he is the 3rd best position player we have. I am fine with keeping Hairston as the utility guy but I don't believe that he will put up the type of numbers over the course of a season that warrants a starting position. I realize that he may be better defensively than Walker but the difference isn’t big enough to offset the offensive production that he brings. And, you can't just build a team by saying let's choose defense over offense even if the guys you let go are much better hitters.
  9. Walker is much, much better than Hairston offensively.
  10. I would gladly take Walker over Hairston any day of the week, especially if you plan on getting Damon.
  11. Umm...he did a full swing. That's not attempting to execute.
  12. No idea, didn't hear it.
  13. Huh? B& B& B& Is there any proof? Not on the board if that's what you mean.
  14. Huh? B& B& B&
  15. I'm not sure if this was said since I didn't feel like reading the last 10-15 posts in this thread but Dusty did say in a press conference the other day that it was a squeeze but that Prior didn't see Corey break for home so he swung away. It wasn't Corey's fault, it was Mark's.
  16. Erik, I think you are being too generous. I don't think he's in a Cub uniform after the 2005 season. I have it on good authority that Hendry will do everything he can to trade Patterson during the offseason, low value or not. Hendry is absolutely pissed off at Corey's play and attitude since he has returned. And, seeing 5 pitches in 4 at bats last night was just the icing on the cake. Although he probably won't play with the major league team this year, I get the strong sense that the Felix Pie in CF era is set to start in March. Hoops Whether or not Patterson is on the team next year, Pie needs to be in AAA. Looks like we're doomed to see the same mistakes the organization made with Patterson. By the end of this year Pie will probably have almost 1500 minor league AB's, which I believe is almost double what Patterson had. I don't see how the Cubs could be accused of doing the "same" thing they did with Patterson. Pujols only had about 500 minor league AB's. Miguel Cabrera had about 1400 minor league AB's. If the guy is as good as everyone says then get him up here and don't waste a year in AAA. Patterson's inability to develop at the MLB level should not force the Cubs to keep every prospect in the minors longer. Each guy is different, and Pie might use the promotion as a catalyst to improve at a quicker pace than he would at AAA. If he doesn't, you can always send him back down to work on his game. Are you really sure that you want him to develop up here after Dusty's comments on teaching while in the majors? The coaching staff will get a hold of him and he will swing at anything that doesn't already.
  17. Sweet! So we have Walker, Aramis, and Barrett to trade away? We can get a couple of good defenders for that package.
  18. With their fifth selection and 44th overall, the midway monsters select QB Trent Green of the Kansas City Chiefs.
  19. This is true.
  20. With their fourth selection and 37th overall, the midway monsters select WR Reggie Wayne of the Indianapolis Colts.
  21. seconded Thirded. and Vance, your team is starting to scare me.
  22. I completely agree. I really don't understand why Hendry would want a guy like Dusty managing his team. They really have two completely different philosophies. Hendry believes in building a team from the farm and we all know that Dusty doesn't believe in this. I just don't understand why he puts up with him.
  23. Oh, ok. Point well taken. :D
