  1. goones and soapy...yes, my bad! Yes, recently Jones has looked more like himself :( Although the 425+ ft HR last night looked good!
  2. While I want no part of Neifi, Jones hasn't been horrible. Stats: AVG .288 | HR 18 | RBI 55 | OBP .321 | SLG .499
  3. Realism = no, they are not going to the playoffs. However, as a fan, it is enjoyable to watch them as of late. I would like to see them dig out of the under .500 hole and at least make 06 a somewhat respectable season. Now, go sweep Milwaukee please!
  4. I got two extra nice seats for this game. PM me if you want these and I will let them go for face value or less... Thanks guys and GO CUBBIES!!!
  5. He reminds me of Alex Gonzalez... pure clutch!
  6. In regards to JH claiming 2 "top notch" prospects... please keep in mind he believes Izturis is arguably the NL's best SS. In other words, the "top notch" prospects could have been 2 A-Ball pitchers with 5.66 ERA's.
  7. Yeah, Pete Rose running over Ray Fosse this wasn't. Props to Damian Miller though, that was a hell of a play on his part. Agreed! As you mention, it was a great play on Miller's part. Although Barrett has been great as a Cub, I have much respect for Damian in 2003 and the way he handled our pitching staff.
  8. Meh...that really wasn't that big of hit. Perhaps if Miller was planted and waiting for Dunn it would have been more entertaining!
  9. I can't relate to that! I thought you had to be born a Cubs fan, therefore it stays with you for life! Although I can't stand the season we are having, for the life of me I can't stop being a Cubs fan! It's... weird!
  10. So Bell, when is he a FA? Hitting .278 with less than 10 HR's is not your ideal 3rd basemen.
  11. While I agree with your thought process, I find it hard to lump Maddux (a hall of fame 300+ winning pitcher) in with the rest of those scrubs.
  12. How is this the case? Mind you I have not seen Tejada play in person and I typically won't watch them on EI, but I have never heard any analyst say he was done at SS.
  13. I was never impressed with Williamson, good luck in SD.
  14. Z is awesome...no doubt! I especially enjoyed watching him leg-out the single to David Wright at 3rd and then try to steal second. That was the first time in awhile Wrigley has been able to stand up and give a player his much deserved propts! I recall in 2003 Dusty actually saying something like "Z will be better than Wood or Prior" ... he got that right!
  15. I would like to see how Prior would deal with the real world... you only have so many sick/personal days to use in a calendar year. My guess, Prior would use every single one and more than likely would be the guy at the office that never puts a full week of work in. Boss: "Hello" Prior: "Sir, I am unable to work today, I have the flu" Boss: "Ok" take care, see ya tomorrow? Prior: "No, I think I will take the the next 6 months to recoupe" As a Cub fan, I long for the day we won't have to worry about Wood and Prior coming back... those two sisters should star in "Groundhogs Day 2" as their autobiography.
  16. If you had a choice, would you rather see Neifi DFA'd or Baker fired?
  17. I don't think that has anything to do with his ability to instruct or not. Coaches stats as a player are not something to look for when deciding on the quality of instruction he is giving a modern day player. Though you have a solid point, I do as well. Clines has to be judged by the fruit of his labor. The Cub offense is horrific. He is not effective, nor is he making any sort of difference. I hate to be critical, but when you have a payroll of nearly $100 million, you should at least be in the top 75% of the standings. The Cubs could do this poorly with a $15 million payroll. Am I wrong? You certainly are not "wrong" ... I just don't see how any manager/coach could be evaluated on past playing performance. Take for instance Mike Maddux, definatly not a top-of-the line pitcher, but a dang good pitching coach. Your point is taken regarding Clines...I have wanted to see him gone for some time now!
  18. I don't think that has anything to do with his ability to instruct or not. Coaches stats as a player are not something to look for when deciding on the quality of instruction he is giving a modern day player.
  19. Always! You will not have a problem getting very close should you want to spend the money to see this team!
  20. Personally I think Rotoworld.com summed it up the best...
