  1. That's how I see it too. The only thing is, if I buy a car and turns out to be a lemon I will do whatever I can to get rid of it and get something more reliable. The Cubs just try to make lemonade. That's what they're going to have to do: hope some team needs a lefty and will pick up most, if not all of the contract. Would the Cubs ever consider allowing THE FANS to buy out his contract? That way we have full rights to put him on the office softball team and be amazed how many desk jockeys hit HR's this year!
  2. He drives from Chi->Mil every game day? .... Hour-Twenty tops... Tony Kukoc does the same thing... Besides, who the heck wants to live in Milwaukee :)
  3. Anthony (Tony Butler) went number 81 to Seattle, I coached against that lefty and man can he pitch... he has some electric stuff. Should be interesting to see how he plays out.
  4. I can only hope you are poor by the end of October! poor?? young man, WAGE YOUR ENTIRE FUTURE AND GET US THE SERIES!!! it'll be worth it... I've always wondered what people's breaking points would be. Like, would I pay $10,000 for a World Series, yes. Etc... for a Cubs WS win, and as long as my wife isnt prgenant, I would wager my soul... heck, as much as i live and die with them, I feel I already have.... If I was guaranteed a World Series for this year... I might not be able to resist paying any amount of money!
  5. I can only hope you are poor by the end of October!
  6. Somewhat of an update... __________________
  7. Oh, I completely agree with getting rid of him if you can. I just don't think the timing is right now to get it done. Not that I want Jones and his contract for the next 2 years...but, who would you target to replace him?
  8. I don't think you can make a blanket statement like that. Granted, some don't have a clue but a lot do know what they are doing. Agreed, I am a pitching coach for a large high school in the Milwaukee area. I have a staff of 5 starters 2 middle relief/spot starters and a closer. I will not let my pitchers go over 100 and they have to rest 4 days before pitching again. Furthermore each kid that starts a game will not play a position the next game. (we play 6 games per week) I do see abuse, last year in the Regional game a kid threw 205 and lost it on a bases loaded walk 4-3. Amazing the coach never pulled him :(
  9. That was a shot...feels weird rooting for the Reds, I have grown to dislike them over the past couple seasons...Anything to see the Cards lose! Izzy is in trouble!
  10. Here is Brewerfan.net's take on him. He looks promising, but they've only got him ranked #121 overall. Reading his report, he reminds me of a lighter Andy Sisco. Yes, I also found this.... Anthony Butler is a 2006 LHP with a 6'7'', 206 lb. frame from Oak Creek WI, who attends Oak Creek HS. Big League profile body. Top level athlete. Excellent downward plane from extended high 3/4's release. Very good extension. Repeats delivery. Fastball up to 90 mph, explodes on hitters. Sharp 75 CB with downer bite. Throws cutter with SL action. Developing change up. Has everything a pro scout is looking for; velo, breaking ball, body, projection. Very good student. Signed with Arkansas. I enjoyed watching him throw, it was a nice warm evening and I was even suprised he hit 93 in the first. 95 later in the game. On a side note, I would like him to be drafted so the road to a state title doesn't run through Oak Creek.
  11. Really? BA doesn't have him in the Top 200 on their prospects list. Seidel is the only Wisconsin guy ranked in the Top 200. According to them, his fastball is in the high 80s and peaks at 90. He has a good breaking pitch otherwise, but his delivery brings about a large degree of effort and stress on his shoulder. He has a strong commitment to Arkansas, so he might be a tough sign. And the gun I read was from the ARK scout. Last Sat. evening in West Bend agains South Milwaukee, the kid look sick...K'd 19 only giving up 1 hit. I heard numorous ... "WOW's" from the 3 other scouts... We shall see... we shall see!
  12. Would you please provide insight on Anthony (Tony) Butler out of Oak Creek High School in Wisconsin. I have coached against his team the past 3 years and watched him develop. An amazing arm that hits 90's with ease. I got up close last week and sat behind 4 scouts at his game, he hit 93 in the first inning, lighting the gun at 95 by the 5th to go along with his 19 K's in the game. He stands 6'7 and has a nasty curve, respectable change and dominate FB. From what I understand, Cincy is high on him and he is headed out to pre-draft camps around the midwest so other teams can look at him. Thoughts???
  13. Not a fair comparison, Pierre was not brought in to drive guys in. Sure, it is part of his all around job duty, but I would rather his RBI's be down and his OBP up!

  15. OMG, what is the rest of the NL going to do?
  16. Yes...may the real season begin! Go Cubbies!!!
  17. What did Varitek get in 2004?
  18. One of the Washington guys is Tom Pacoriek. I bet he's just glad not to have to work with Hawk Harrellson anymore. He was very high on Z. Said he loved his emotion and thought this Cubs team was much better than their record indicates. That being said, he also mentioned that Juan is one of the best leadoff hitters in the game :(
  19. See dusty, you don't need to be their friends, or be liked. You need to be respected and not walked all over. Grow a friggin backbone and quit making excuses for your team. Not sure how this has anything to do with Dusty. Cox was not quoted at all in your post and I fail to see how any manager could back up LaRoche for doing what he did yesterday, including Dusty.
  20. Point well taken! Either I was way to positive or didn't see the truth coming, either way as others have mentioed I did not think this team would fold this early in the season. Makes for a long, sad summer!
  21. Do you believe the players who most claim love to play for our current manager have "shut it down" for the time being? Or is this club currently as bad as they have been playing?
  22. The loss of Sheets and Ohka is not helping The Crew out right now!
  23. I know I can contain myself if it does happen, but boy...I almost cried when we went up 3-2 yesterday! WHOOO HOOO, I am ready to party tonight!!!
