  1. Correct. They could say he didn't maintain possession through the ground also though.
  2. Greater chance the d will cheat up on the run when it's less than a yard - especially given the bears past behavior on the goal line I understand that, I just think it would have been the right decision to go for it from the 2 and they probably would have had the same result. It was inside the 2 on the original 4th down.
  3. That was definitely the right decision by the Bears. I'm just not sure why you're comfortable running that play from the 1 but didn't want to run it from the 2.
  4. You can play that if your team loses a close one but then has some convincing wins and looks good. You can't play that when your team has been in 4 games decided on the last possession and has won 3 of them. 2 of those games were at home. There's a good chance that 2 of those teams won't make a bowl game. Notre Dame is 28th in the Sagarin ratings. The 4 last-possession games you've had have been against 42, 43, 47 and 80.
  5. Not on topic with this week but tomorrow 4-star QB A.J. Derby is holding a press conference to commit to Iowa. Doesn't hurt that he's from Iowa City, his dad played for Iowa and his brother is a walk on at Iowa. But he had offers from Alabama, Florida, Florida State, LSU, Illinois, Miami, Michigan, Nebraska, Wisconsin and a bunch of others.
  6. Which of course is why SI picked the Bears to go to the Super Bowl. Honestly why would anyone care about NFL power rankings, especially in the first month of the year? They're completely meaningless and totally change from week to week.
  7. Yeah, I don't hear anyone now... "Favre is washed up" "Favre isnt even a upgrade over Jackson or Sage" "Favre will hurt the Vikings more then help" "Favre is coming off a injury" God I hate Favre. but I hate him for different reasons, the guy can still play. Im glad we have Rodgers and im glad we moved on but other fans saying "well he is not even that good" just got a big serving of crow. What a man. Even with that throw he had a QB rating of 75. I'm really shaking in my boots there! The Vikes are a good team but Favre still isn't a difference maker for them. Well if you're such a big fan of QB rating you should know that he ranks 8th in the NFL in QB rating this year. His QB ratings in the first two games were 95 and 115. Yesterday was the first day they needed him to throw a lot and get the ball downfield. Mixed results. He could have easily had 3 INT but the Vikings had about 4 really bad drops. Worst of the year. Berrian had two big plays he dropped and Harvin dropped a ball between the numbers that would have been a first down. The real problem right now is the o-line. The 3-4 yesterday is good prep for the Packers though.

  9. Thanks for handing them points Seneca. All he had to do was flick his wrist and dump it to the line of scrimmage.
  10. What the hell? In the NFL anything inside of 40 is pretty much automatic. 34 yarder, come on.
  11. Iowa has the 2nd longest winning streak in the country at 8. Florida is at 17. Penn State, Purdue, Minnesota, South Carolina, UNI, Iowa State, Arizona, Penn State. 1 Big 12 team, 1 SEC team, 1 Pac-10 team, 1 FCS and 4 Big Ten wins.
  12. Charles Davis: "That Bears challenge reminds me of something a friend told me a long time ago, he... Dick Stockton: "So back to return is Forsett and whoever, Gould will kick it off" 10 seconds of silence
  13. Brett Favre
  14. The thing was, they should have been 20th going into this game. They were 21 in the preseason. Yeah they needed the FG blocks to beat UNI but they beat Arizona decisively and won at Iowa State 35-3. They shouldn't have dropped from 21 to 32 based on those three games. Iowa is definitely capable of going 11-1 and I don't think there's a big difference between OSU and Iowa. That said, I think 2 losses is a fair guess. The one thing to remember is how Ferentz teams almost always get better as the season wears on. If the offense progresses it could be a special year.
  15. Sagarin starting to look more accurate: http://www.usatoday.com/sports/sagarin/fbt09.htm
  16. Our defense is [expletive] awesome. PSU's offense not being very good helped, but wow. When the front four gets pressure that's definitely a top 10 defense nationally. Donahue and the d-line completely changed that game on their own. Binns and Klug played their best games of the year by far. bcl you really need to get off Stanzi. Considering the situation and the defense I think he played well last night. I counted 4 drops and one of them obviously led to the INT. He threw a few bad balls and made a couple bad decisions but overall considering circumstances it was a decent outing. Robinson really impressed me in that second half. We should be ranked about 15 right now. We started 21 and have given 4 teams their only loss. We destroyed ISU on the road and won by two scores at PSU and home against Arizona. If the UNI game doesn't come down to the last second we probably would already have been 17-18 and would move to the top 10 after last night. And sulley would you please stop talking about irrelevant teams?
  17. I can't [expletive] wait for tonight. Basically a 100% chance of rain and temps in the 50's tonight. Hopefully that keeps some of the non-students from being too loud and maybe diminishes the dreaded white out. If Iowa can avoid early mistakes and weather the early wave, I like their chances.
  18. So Mizzou is backed up inside their own 20 with 30 seconds left. Nevada has no timeouts and they only need to run one play. Instead of taking a knee, let's run a draw and cough it up. Then Nevada gets an unsportsmanlike on the recovery. Then with 0 timeouts left Kapernick tries to run up the middle of the field with 23 seconds remaining. They have to spike it with 5. Then on the final play of the half from the Mizzou 40, instead of chucking up the hail mary he throws it out of bounds. You can't get much more incompetent in a final 30 seconds of a half.
  19. You've got 1st down on SC's 30 needing a touchdown with a potential 1st round QB who seemed to finally get into a decent rhythm and a really good back. So on first down you go wildcat with your 2nd best RB and on 2nd down you try a trick play on a reverse. Houston Nutt ladies and gentlemen.
  20. May can be good when he's not trying to play into his scripted part. Seriously Snead?
  21. Took South Carolina + 4.5 and the under on centsports (yeah I'm rolling big tonight). Looking good so far.
  22. +10 this week is pretty inviting also. The game tonight is really confusing.
  23. The Bears aren't going to lose this game unless they have a boatload of turnovers. Considering the state of Seattle's defense, that's not likely.
  24. I love how the only time you're ever serious and not playing a bit is when you're complaining about officials and conspiracy theories. Or is it?
  25. LOL I'm late to this, but seriously they're claiming parents and teachers at some private daycare were calling his 3 year old the n-word? If there were any doubt where Milton gets his crazy from...
