They actually lost 7 straight last year. April 30-May 7. And wasn't it shortly after that they unloaded Hawkins? Hawkins was unloaded in late May. -
It won't be because the fans are booing. It will because Hendry lowballed another FA and watched him go to another team. After Hendry lowballs a good FA, he'll highball(if that's a word) another middle reliever and go over the top of what they were even asking.

Some of you guys are experts on the farm system, is there anyone even remotely close to being brought up to provide any sort of power for this bench? Hoffpauir seemed off to a solid start, is there any chance of that? Sing? anybody? This bench is beyond terrible.

disappointing move, I'm happy for Riot but he's completely unnecessary on this roster. Restovich at least attempts to fill a need, a power bat off the bench.

I don't know if the Cubs should trade either one of these guys, but the idea of the Cubs trading either one of these scares me because of who they might get in return.

restovich hasn't done much since being called up, but if he's the guy who is off the 25 man roster, there is absolutely minimal power on the bench.

Cedeno would plan 2B, just like the Cubs were planning to do when they sign Furcal. So you're suggesting that Nomar should have replaced Walker and his 1.5 million then. Good luck defending that. I'm not suggesting anything, so I'm not defending anything. I'm telling you what the Cubs probably would have done if they chose to re-sign Nomar.

I was always impressed with the arm that Nomar displayed from SS to 1B. Granted, a throw from the OF is different, I think Garciaparra would have at least an adequate arm in RF.
