  1. No. These are separate deals that have been in the works for some time before the Tejada thing came up. Thanks for stopping in and keeping us up to date.
  2. Agreed, and Wilson can be a july trade bait shoudl the Cubs be out of the race or, if in the race, can easily be replaced due to not amassing a large salary for him
  3. just kinda an off topic question of sorts but in order to high a high BA don't you have to have a high BABIP? Logically I would think so (admittingly not knowing how BABIP is calculated) so why is this a bad thing?
  4. What I took away from the discussion of Bradley's lack of consistent playing time over the last 6 seasons is that if is his so good and we should be disappointed that he isn't a Cub then why was he platooning? Shouldn't someone of his caliber be an everday player?
  5. too bad Sosa still isn't in RF so that this could be marketed better. "The Sosa Hole" kinda like Pensky's pole or some of the names of the holes at Augusta.
  6. Regardless, the argument stops with the simple undeniable fact that ND has lost twice and UO has only lost once. Thanks for the automatic bids answer, i didn't understand the rules of rankings in the top 4 automatically put you in. I guess that rule is there in case the #1 team loses in the final week in their conference championship game. But can someone tell mw how OSU is ranked ahead of Oregon when they have 2 losees? Seems like some favortism there too. But what I can't understand is the argument that Oregon didn't get the shaft because everyone was an automatic bid. So what? It just goes to show that the auto bids now are outdated and incorrect, especially given that the team that got the shaft is from a major conference which if played in the Big 10/12/SEC/ACC would have gotten the auto bid.
  7. Is anyone else concerned about Burnout with him? He has been playing a lot of baseball recently.
  8. To reiterate: ND was not an at-large team. They got an AUTOMATIC bid by being ranked in the top 6 of the BCS, the same way that any other non-BCS conference team has to get in (like Utah last year). Yes, ND was not an at-large. Nor was OSU. They were automatic bids, just as FSU, Georgia, USC, Texas, WVU, and PSU were. There were no at large bids this year. Every team that was picked, was picked because they were guarenteed a spot per the BCS. And as you said, Raisin, there is nothing one can do about the automatic bids, so why are people still complaining about Oregon not going? There were no at-larges this year, they were all automatic. How were they all automatic? Georgia & FSU won their championship games, PSU & OSU are in the same conference and WV won thier conference.
  9. No I didn't forget, I mrele poitned out how broken the system is and how this continues to be proven. Regardless, I don't understand how ND is ranked higher then Oregon anyhow, but that is a different rant
  10. So it should be Oregon and TCU? Exactly. Just because a team has 1 loss doesn't mean it should be a higher ranked team. Especially with Ohio State, you can make a strong case. Ohio State's strength of schedule is the 3rd toughest in the nation compared to 49th in the nation by Oregon and 69th by TCU. With Notre Dame at the 39th for SOS you might have a legit beef. Ohio State, with a much tougher schedule than Oregon beat their opponents by an average of 17.73 points per game while Oregon with a schedule that is much weaker beat their opponents by an average of 12.63. (I used Points For Per game and Points Against Per game to come up with that). Couple that with OSU's two losses to the number 2 and 3 BCS team (both very close games) and Oregon getting embarassed on their home turf by USC, its hardly an outrage. If Oregon plays USC like OSU played Texas, they would have that spot in the Fiesta. Err, Oregon played well vs USC in the 1st half and are coming from a top conference (unlike TCU). I hate the idea of east coast bias but there really has to be something said for this to happen to Oregon twice now. Why is it that the other BCS conferences have teams getting at large bids but the Pac 10 is typically left out? The pac 10 provides the most NFL players. It seems that becasue there is a bigger disparity between the top and the bottom of the conference then the other majors it causes the nation to think that the top teams aren't good. Regardless of strength of schedule and rankings, you tell me that a team loses once all season and that one loss is to the (eventual) national champion (who has won 35 in a row) and they aren't in the top bowl games then something is broken. I can't wait for the final rankings to come out and have Oregon ahead of ND, OSU, FSU, Georgia and West Virgina. This is why I can never get excited about college football. Its politics without the excitement of a gavel.
  11. rather then Finley, I could see a Patterson & Williams to LAA for Erstad or Juan Rivera for Patterson Straight Up.
  12. I vote Oregon to win, oh wait they aren't playing in this game. How can they not play in the game when they have 1 loss and the other has 2? I guess logic doesn't exsist in college anymore.
  13. I'd have to go with the Colts cause they would have to beat the Seahawks which I don't think that they can.
  14. I wouldn't be surprised to see one of the previously aquired pitchers from Minnesota being included.
  15. I like this trade in many ways. Yes we gave up talent and in some degrees a lot of it. But depending on how you look at both sides, its really a pretty even trade all around. The only pitcher in the group that the Cubs sent that might have even cracked the pitching staff in the next 2 years is Pinto. Mitre had his shot, and didn't do well. Of course being set up for sucess is a different argument but in this case, the Cubs traded from a position of strength which is "solid, middle of the rotation ceiling" pitching prospects. All 3 of these pitchers can be replaced on the various lists without much of a dropoff in ceiling and it gives the Cubs a much needed leadoff hitter & CF as well as much needed wiggle room on their roster. Pierre's value to the Cubs can be measured in several ways, but the best way will be after the 2006 season. He brings elements of baseball to the team that it has been lacking since 2003 and that was a pretty successful year. If the blueprint is to bring back that kind of sucess then I am all for it.
  16. Gotta wish him luck. The O's will draft better now thats for sure. Don't let Oneri go though.
  17. Put the ads back on the bottom of the premium view pages! I t would help all of us continue to suppor the forum.
  18. I think that Trot is an excellent option and one that could come without much of a challenge. Corey for Trot and a AA prospect would be fair.
  19. I don't know how anyone can vote against the seahawks. They have the most sacks in the league and they have the #1 ranked offense.
  20. * - if they miss three FGs or are an absolutely terrible team  Or have 2 TD's called their way when they are clearly not TD's and then miss 3 FG or throw a last minute interception.
  21. Ummm...Guys the Colts will lose 2 games. They will lose to SD and then Lose again on Christmas Eve to Seattle. No One can beat the Seahawks at home! Besides, after they lose to the chargers, it will be like a preseason game (likely for both teams) and the Seahawks have more to win.
  22. Yeah. It really is a shame. He has the talent to be dominant and he just cant put it together. Err... Is this the same Welly we are talking about that walks nearly a batter an inning? He needs a return to the fundamentals to regain his control.
  23. Isn't Black Friday the day for Bargains? Then again, many people spend a lot of money today too :D I Bought a new TV! Yeah Me!
  24. I am suprised by the idea that we got fleeced in teh Farnsworth Trade. We got 3 players Bo Flowers, Scott Moore (former 1st round pick in '03) and Roberto Novoa. Novoa's Cubs Stats: 4 5 4.43 ERA 49G 44.2 IP 47H 22ER 25BB/47K Moore's Daytona Stats: .281/.358/.485 31 DBL 20HR 82RBI 55BB/134K 22SB Flowers' Stats: .238/.286/.353 10DBL 8HR 49RBI 19BB/121K 10SB Farnsworth's Stats: 1 1 2.19 ERA 72G 70IP 44H 18R 27BB/87K So we gave up a 3 million a year reliever and got 3 players, 2 solid prospects and 1 filler. Not bad for a middle reliever that we were trying to get rid of.
  25. now the question becomes, who do you want to ignore?
