  1. I still get excited over games like tonight's and hate waiting. And I miss the atmosphere of being at the games, plus tailgating. It's one of the only times I really feel homesick and miss Tallahassee.
  2. Two points in ongoing discussions: 1. Look at the UF schedule, and tell me how they get bowl-eligible if they don't beat Tennessee this week. Losing that easy win against Idaho is going to hurt them. 2. There aren't a lot of "up and coming" coaches out there to take over the blue blood programs. We got lucky at FSU that Jimbo panned out, and Texas A&M has been successful, but there are a lot more failures at storied programs with coaches than there are successes.
  3. So we can discount his selections when he picks three teams from the Big 10 and someone from the Big 12?
  4. I like your optimism, but it has a way of working itself out every year.
  5. Speaking of Al Golden, this is one of the funniest things I've ever seen - watch at around 1:35 when he's asked about his continually non-working defensive strategies: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6LON7LdjSM He's just mailing it in at this point, hoping to get canned.
  6. I'm hoping we can land him at FSU, so he can hang with his BFF Jimbo. He's good as a DC, great on the recruiting trail, and his salary would be subsidized by our biggest rival.
  7. No kidding. With that much experience, and a first-time starter, you would have thought they would step up. Granted, they were better in the second half, but we still couldn't run the ball until OT. Our C, Barron, was the worst of the bunch. Sorry, that belongs to UF in 1994 vs. FSU.
  8. In a lame attempt to be fair, there's some Twitter scuttlebutt that part of this is related to that. I don't know the particulars but evidently they're investigating the assault further due to a Title IX complaint. ETA: Well, now there are sources saying Winston wasn't honest with FSU about this incident and that's why the suspension, so maybe that's just wrong as usual. Apparently it's one of two things: 1. He didn't disclose that he climbed on top of a table when doing this in the student union, or, 2. He didn't disclose that he was saying it to friends all around campus during the entire day. The Board of Trustees evidently had a meeting on Friday and decided to hand this down, hence the 11pm press release. I'm ready for this drama to be over. I hope we can win the game, and that the rest of the team just comes together to get over it. This incident isn't worthy of a suspension by itself, but only because of the NFL stuff and the previous rape allegations does this become a story.
  9. I'm really hoping that UF is overlooking UK
  10. There's been a long enough period of ineptitude at Michigan that it should scare every powerhouse. While it typically takes more than a single bad hire, there aren't a lot of good, young coaches out there who can turn a program around quickly.
  11. I think that sounds great, until you realize that these are 18-22 year old kids who also spend some time (not a lot, let's be honest) in class. They aren't professionals, and we need to stop acting as if we expect them to be professionals. And this comes from a guy who attended and is a fan of a football factory school.
  12. He looks like Grimace out there playing football.
  13. Cameron was on the same flight as the recruits (Malachi Dupree, Kenny Young and Davon Godchaux) to LA Thursday night and will be on the same flight back on Sunday. They're visiting UCLA. Apparently he's staying at the same hotel. Mora met the recruits at LAX and apparently saw Cameron at the time, no idea if pleasantries were exchanged. Cameron is in LA doing an in-home with Adoree Jackson. The flight was the only non-stop from New Orleans to LA that day. The reports of Cameron returning on the same flight home are in error. He's already returned to Louisiana. That makes it much less impressive and fun.
  14. It's dirty as can be, but I love what LSU did. Apparently they scheduled OC Cam Cameron on a flight from NOLA to Los Angeles this weekend under the guise of a recruiting trip, and he'll return on Sunday. Those flights just happen to be the same flights as Malachi Dupre is on for his visit to LSU. Well done, LSU. You fully get the SEC message of "if you ain't cheatin', you ain't tryin'."
  15. Sounds like a solid dude ... Check your PM's ...
  16. Hearing that Pruitt leaving might have more to do with dipping his pen in the company ink (co-eds) while engaged than anything football related. It also places him 180 miles closer to his son, who is still playing HS football in AL. From all reports, he didn't bother to tell Jimbo, the administration, or the players he was leaving - they found out through media reports and requests.
  17. Judging by what UGA has returning and their schedule vs. what FSU has returning and their schedule, I would say that he is much more likely to meet the incentive clauses in his FSU contract than he is in the UGA contract - meaning he will take a pay cut. Taking out salary considerations, I'm thinking he was a year away from a HC spot. Now, he'll have to rebuild UGA, and is likely 2-3 years away from a HC spot - if he's able to rebuild them quickly. Additionally, Mark Richt is on a perpetual "warm" seat at UGA, and the staff might get the ax if they have another mediocre season, injuries or not, and it's unknown if he would stay or be part of the house cleaning. Lots of variables in the UGA move, combined with the timing of it.
  18. Pruitt probably nearly doubled his salary too, which is nice. From all accounts on my end, he's only getting a $100K base salary bump. Seemingly he would have a quicker progression to a HC spot if he stayed at FSU (and a better shot at another championship), unless he feels that Richt is gone soon and he'll have the inside shot. Apparently he's good friends with the OL coach, who played a big role in landing him. It's difficult to get mad after just winning the whole thing, however. From elsewhere: "According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Florida State defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt is expected to accept the defensive coordinator job at Georgia. According to ESPN's Mark Schlabach, Pruitt will make $850,000 annually. He made about $500,000 at Florida State." Saw from Tallahassee Democrat writer that he took home $950K after incentives this year. Also saw from someone that he owes $75K back to FSU for leaving prior to completing a full year of his contract.

  20. I think so also...but MSU rotates OLinemen more than other places, so they do have some experience coming back. Also under Narduzzi MSU's D has re-loaded quite well. More of a system than the sum of its parts. With a better passing game, they should be able to offset most of their losses. Will Narduzzi be there, or is he getting a HC spot somewhere?
  21. Miami is stuck with Golden. Franklin and Strong will not be candidates at UF when Muschamp is (likely) fired this offseason. This is an excellent offseason.
  22. A friend of mine thinks that Napier will get it, and that Napier is a future head coach somewhere.
  23. Texas A&M is liable to have a MAJOR fall next year. How do they make up that 5,000 yards or whatever JFF compiled this year? Also, their defense is a complete trainwreck. I think he's a very good coach, but Kevin Sumlin was lucky to get such a large offer before having to be evaluated without Manziel.
  24. It sounds like Bobby Petrino is going back to Louisville, with Pat Narduzzi the backup choice if some things fall through.
  25. They also lost Connor Shaw. Those are very big losses.
