  1. No, one loss would probably dump them behind those two 2-loss teams. David Hale wrote a great article about how we have a more solid claim to #1 than the media portrays this week: http://espn.go.com/blog/acc/post/_/id/77371/by-the-numbers-fsus-case-for-no-1 But, yeah, a loss will put us out of the race for the playoff based upon the media treatment we've received this year and the general angst against us. Heck, I'm pretty certain that we're going to be the #4 seed and play Bama in NOLA if al the top teams keep winning.
  2. I'll look, but I imagine that UGA and UCLA would take an act of God to get in.
  3. People are skeptical because FSU isn't really dominating anyone they play and are squeaking by some teams. FSU is barely half as good as they were last year. Last year FSU beat their opponents by an average of 39.4 points. This year they are beating their opponents by an average of 14.2 points. Last year through 10 games they gave up 111 points. This year through 10 games they've given up 228 points. The only teams they have beaten by more than two TD's are Wake, The Citadel, and Syracuse. We play the teams on our schedule this year, with the team we have this year. And we're undefeated, unlike all but one other team - and no other P5 teams. Our schedule, overall, has been as tough as anyone else outside of the SECw. Even taking into account that the OOC opponents scheduled haven't lived up to their expectations, we still have one of the toughest OOC schedules in the nation. And all we do is win. I still want to know what is the basis for the SEC being so highly regarded. Their major OOC wins are LSU beating Wisconsin (coming back like FSU did - oh, the irony), West Virginia (are they even top 25 anymore?), Kansas State (with Auburn having 3 losses already, how good of a win is this?), and Clemson (who we happened to beat without our starting QB). Heck, lowly IU managed to beat the likely SECe champs. Here is the list for the entire conference, in all its glory: http://www.sportingnews.com/ncaa-football/story/2014-07-02/sec-non-conference-schedule-rankings-georgia-tennessee-missouri-arkansas-south-carolina-auburn-alabama Yeah, probably deserved, but it's irritating. Being a Cubs fan is bad enough. I'm going to assume that you're honing in on the rape allegations, since it's the most serious of all. Knowing who I know, law enforcement was closer to charging her with filing a false police report than Jameis was to facing actual charges. If it's something else, please let me know.
  4. I could never have imagined that a CFB season where FSU is undefeated would be quite so miserable. Instead of being able to enjoy it, it's been full of false/unproven allegations, NYT investigations, and speculation about how bad we suck in spite of being undefeated. If we were to win the inaugural playoff, it wouldn't be joyous, but rather a giant "F YOU" to everyone for doubting how good we are. So I really hope it happens, just so the story can change to it "being a down year for CFB." The mounting excuses are getting to be ridiculous, especially when they completely discredit every other team in the top 5/6 of the playoff rankings - but they only seem to apply to us. Whatever. Just keep winning.
  5. Yeah, we're terrible - FSU is the only team to have beaten 4 teams in the F/+ top 25. No other team has beaten even 3.
  6. Sounds like a plus for Arky.
  7. Someone I know pretty well is involved with the Bull Gators at UF, and he said that the buyout had a 1-year clause of no coaching for Muschamp.
  8. The only silver lining is they're going to get dumptrucked by Alabama, Oregon, or whatever actually good team they face in the playoff. Hopefully. Would you really believe, based upon Jimbo Fisher's history as a HC, that having a month to prepare won't allow us to have a great shot against anyone in our first playoff game?
  9. I won't say we should be #1, but there is no reason for us to be dropping to #3. One thing I'm getting from the committee is that they're making this up as they go along. There are no rules, no framework, nothing. It's all subjective.
  10. I would call that fair analysis. And I would also posit that the teams you just mentioned is as deep as any league other than the SEC. I find it ironic that UGA's "quality" win was a win over Clemson, but FSU's win over Clemson wasn't considered quality. Wut? I couldn't disagree with you more. Speaking as a fan of the 2012 Notre Dame team, close wins have never been used to hold up a team as being 'battle tested'. FSU's performance this season has been undeniably less than spectacular. I wouldn't have dropped them behind a one-loss team myself (and if I did, it would've been TCU, not Oregon, jumping them), but I can understand the rationale of the move. In the end, FSU still has to beat two great teams to win the championship, so it doesn't change much. Really? That's how Auburn was described in every (a bit of hyperbole, but many) report leading up to the BCSCG.
  11. I agree that it's a resume-based world, and it should be. That's why FSU got passed. They have 2 wins over good teams this year, both at home, and by popular opinion and by numbers they were outplayed in both and were lucky to escape. The rest of their opponents range from mediocre to terrible, and they've struggled with a couple of them too. It's not entirely their fault (Oklahoma St and Florida should be better than they are), but the committee has said intent won't matter when it comes to judging a schedule. This is a good thing. Acknowledging tougher schedules and acknowledging how a team looked in a game will force better scheduling and will make CFB better. Let's talk about the narrative. Last year, close wins were prized, no matter who you played - it showed you were "battle tested." This year, close wins mean that you're not good - especially when you're being judged against your previous years performance, when you set all sorts of NCAA records. It's a bit ridiculous, and I'm unsure of where the hate is coming from. Maybe it's due to the Jameis situation, maybe it's something else. Whatever. Just keep winning, and everyone can deal with it.
  12. Precisely. The ACC is a complete joke. Freaking DUKE is 8-1. FSU would have 2 or 3 losses in the SEC West. Bama, Auburn, and Ole Miss are better teams this year than FSU. Maybe Miss St too. Also, Ole Miss is #3 in Sagarin. They are seven measly points from being undefeated and would be favored the rest of the way. So aggravating. Those losses were so brutal the way they happened. Other than the eye test, how do you know that about the SECw? Aside from Auburn barely beating Kansas State and LSU barely surviving Wisconsin early in the season, what do we have to compare to in terms off OOC play? We really can't. Are you telling me that K-State is better than FSU? Are you telling me that Wisconsin would hang tough with Bama, just like LSU did?
  13. In terms of FEI, a better comparison, the ACC is the #2 conference.
  14. What they did last year is irrelevant. It is, but the returning #1 champion has only been removed from their throne 4/5 times in the history of CFB when they haven't lost. We're being treated like a 2nd class citizen in the CFB world, based mostly off the fact that we're not as dominant as we were last year - one of the most dominant years in the history of CFB. Which is an ironic way to compare us.
  15. The way we've played this year, it's possible that UM, BC, and UF have a shot at us. I'm not feeling confident about any of those games. what happened this time? Although sketchy, the NCAA is investigating a point shaving possibility. Meh, the guy who threw it out there, "Incarcerated Bob," is a pretty sketchy fellow: http://davidpurdumsports.com/2013/06/11/what-happened-when-i-tried-to-interview-incarcerated-bob/
  16. I would argue they would be less likely, since overall health of the players would matter more than a "fun" OOC game.
  17. Would an 8 (or even 16) team playoff be fun? Heck yeah. As Tim suggested in a roundabout way, I wish they would have the 1st round at the higher seeded team's home stadium. That having been said, these are still kids, not professionals. It's too much. The current system is too much, and they should drop at least one game and possibly another due to the addition of the conference championship games. It's getting ridiculous, and I say that as someone whose favorite sport is college football.
  18. Guys, there are 6 more weeks of football. Over the next 6 weeks, most of the teams within the Top 10 will lose, some at least twice. There will be shuffling, re-shuffling, trash-talking amongst fanbases, a final release by the committee, and more anguish by the fanbases of the 5th & 6th place teams. The last 15 years of watching college football have taught me this. This entire committee stunt was held to get people talking, nothing more and nothing less.
  19. As a Gator fan, what are your thoughts about the reports that the accuser is threatening to talk about her deal to drop charges against Treon? I've heard rumblings of this from some contacts I still have down there within UF, and they aren't optimistic.
  20. Rolling Stone just crapped all over ESPN and their pumping of the SEC: http://www.rollingstone.com/culture/features/the-worldwide-cheerleader-espn-and-the-college-football-playoff-20141028
  21. Probably similar to the Bull Gators.
  22. Meh, she's already recanted and said that she was out of control and he was restraining her - which was apparently confirmed by a few eyewitnesses (who were not football players). From some things I've heard about this, she's not the most stable individual and other incidents have happened before when he's tried to break things off with her.
  23. Was the 14-point win over Tennessee or the 1-point win over Arkansas what convinced you? I'm not saying they're not the best, but there are few teams out there this year that are outstanding. There are a bunch of good teams (most of the Top 10) who can play with anyone depending upon the day, but no one single team who stands out. And what's going to suck is the picks of the committee, because there is no clear-cut decision. At least at this point, because there is still A LOT of football to be played. Yeah, right now it's not clear cut, but it never was in the past at this point in a season. The only thing we can be fairly certain of is that FSU is going to make the playoff. There is a large portion of our fanbase that is convinced we're losing on Thursday night in a "perfect storm" type of setup. I'm starting to personally worry about the Miami game. What will be more fun is to see where a lot of these teams end up, especially the SECw. There are plenty of scenarios out there where they might get shut out from the playoff, in spite of (potentially) being the best conference/division in CFB.
  24. Was the 14-point win over Tennessee or the 1-point win over Arkansas what convinced you? I'm not saying they're not the best, but there are few teams out there this year that are outstanding. 25. Unfortunately I don't think that'll happen. The Rebels will trip up at least once (although it's really, really hard to score against that defense, so maybe they won't trip up) and I'm having a hard time imagining Mississippi State winning in Tuscaloosa. At this point, I think the playoff will be FSU Oregon SEC West winner (one loss Ole Miss because of tie-break over Bama) SEC West one-loss team (Bama) I don't know why, but I have a feeling that UGA is going to make it into the playoff by winning the SECCG. I think we (FSU) make it as well. With the upcoming SEC West schedule, there's a possibility that all the teams will have 2 losses, which might shut them out of the playoff and let in two of Oregon, MSU, and ND. But there is A LOT of football to be played at this point, and many different scenarios could happen, including where there are no undefeated teams and many 2-loss teams.
