  1. They looked good in the first half. Szetela is the only one who seems not to be playing well. I'm amazed at the apparent difference in the desire and skill in the U-20 vs. the USMNT. While some of it is the comp, the U-20's seem to want to put it in the back of the net more as opposed to just waiting for their opportunity. The U-20's seem more aggressive, and from what I've seen, finish better as well.
  2. Lost opportunities all the way around. Keeper for Colombia gets tossed with 6 minutes to go, and the US can't even get off antoher shot. Pathetic.
  3. OK, so I'm watching the US v. Colombia game. If I see a US player with the ball, facing the goal just outside the 18, try to dribble through (or pass to the outside) instead of just taking the shot, I'm going to go crazy. Bradley's halftime speech needs to be: "Guzan, good game. We're still in it because you've played well. The rest of the team, fire the f'in ball when you have a clear shot."
  4. It was outstanding. One of the best I've seen from a US team. On another note, I'm happy to see one of our national teams be able to play a through ball. It seems that the USMNT doesn't quite understand the concept very well, but the U-20 team is VERY good at it - from up close and out far.
  5. Huge commit for FSU today in the nations #1 ranked Pro-style QB from VA, EJ Manuel. :D
  6. No worries about replacing Jimbo Fisher?
  7. I'm excited about the Florida State season. They rid themselves of the dead weight in the coaching staff, and the players are excited about the upcoming season. I've heard reports on the new coaches are nothing but good, and I'm interested to see what the OL can do now with one of the best coaches in the country. And the offense will only be better with Jimbo at the helm. I don't like the tough schedule, but I'll go out on a limb and say 10-3. We're already cleaning up in recruiting, and if that happens I see a NC within 3 years. I can't wait - this is one of the most promising seasons I've ever been looking forward to.
  8. Um, it wasn't? Unbelievable.
  9. Maybe because he was only the GM for two years of his tenure here? Get your facts straight. Wow, sorry. Maybe if you try you can be a jackass about it next time. I meant President, not GM.
  10. I was just reading the story on ESPN, and in the third paragraph it mentions that "MacPhail won two World Series championships with the Twins in 1987 and 1991." I find it curious that it makes no mention of his failures as Cubs GM for an approximate 10 year period of time.
  11. They looked REAL bad today. Luckily, they got a few no-calls towards the end of the game, or they would have lost. They are playing ugly soccer at this point.
  12. It would be much cooler if the car were moving, however. :D
  13. Lou made it sound like Barrett got F'ed in the A.
  14. I can't even begin to say what should happen to him if this is true. At the same time, how can someone like Dukes be so stupid as to leave a trail of threats? It doesn't take a Mensa member to know that voicemail messages can be saved and replayed for people, and that text pictures can be saved and forwarded on to others. I guess there is nothing like making it easy for the cops ...
  15. I would love to give an intelligent, well-reasoned answer to this, but I don't think you can go wrong by taking either one of them. That said, I take Oden if I'm the Bulls. A true back to the hoop center is what they missed out on this year. Long term, however, I believe Durant will be the better player.
  16. I'm surprised that Dusty didn't try to throw him out there as a loogy some day. Oh, wait, Carlos' left hand isn't a vet! :D
  17. No criticism that I know of at GT. The only worry I have (and this COULD fall on the QB at Tech) is that he disappeared at times during big games when he wasn't thrown to early. I have no idea if he was shut down, or if he was pulling a Randy Moss and taking plays off.
  18. He's awesome. I want to compare him, but the closest I can think of is the standard - Ronnie Lott.
  19. A few people were making fun of it on an FSU message board earlier. What's tragic (and yet funny), is that he answered 8 or 12 questions - not the entire test of 30 or so questions that everyone else took - but is being scored the same way. I'm wondering why JaMarcus Russell didn't show up on the Wonderlic scores as well. Did he skip it, or is he taking it at the combine?
  20. It always amazes me to see a 6'7 OT put up 225 30+ times. That's a long way to push a bar. No doubt. Wolfe's only 5'7 though and he's benching 22 reps. Free's a huge guy and he's benching the same amount. Hopefully it won't hurt his stock too much. He did play with an injured leg the whole season, but I think he can still be a real solid tackle. Wolfe really intrigues me. He's extremely fast and those bench reps will only help him. His size (which is easily his largest drawback) is much less of an issue if he proves he's strong. I wonder how much it will help that Michael Turner was from NIU. Doesn't mean squat to me, but the NFL GM's seem to feel that past success at a position from one school will better prepare players for what they'll face down the line. I don't, but whatever.
  21. Brown actually did 31 reps, and both Blalock and Manuel Ramirez of Texas Tech did 40 reps. I believe Peterson put up like 22 or 25, and several other RBs broke into the 20's this year. Lorenzo Booker from FSU put up 26 reps, apparently. To show how far our OL has dropped over the past few years, an OT from FSU only produced 21 reps. I see that Mario Henderson only got 20 reps, who else from FSU's line was there? Geez, I gave him credit for an extra rep - that's even more hideous!

  23. Read on Didn't anyone else giggle to themselves when they saw Moran was part of the lineup?
  24. I'm beginning to wonder if any of you ND-haters on this board read. The Louisville player we got decommitted after the coaching change. The Iowa player we got wanted to come to ND all along, just never had an offer - Kirk Ferentz pretty much admitted as much. Once he was offered (because ND lost out on other players it wanted more at the time, and because Corwin Brown's new scheme as DC made Brian Smith a much better fit), he committed pretty much immediately. I don't know the circumstances of the SC player we got, but considering Steve Spurrier's been pissing on Notre Dame ever since we kicked his ass in the 1992 Sugar Bowl, right down to lowballing us in every coaches' poll every year for no apparent reason, I'm not exactly crying for him. I've explained the first two of those situations already, but I guess the "different situations" tag you just gave to Chris Little don't apply if it gives you guys a chance to trash Charlie or ND. (Also of note: Weis said the two decommits on NSD were completely different situations. My guess is, he's not that mad at Chris, since there were other factors in his decision. But Greg L. decommitted from us not until NSD - while leading everyone at ND to believe he was still coming as late as the night before - and with no explanation.) Actually, I did read it - and the Louisville coaching change was the only one that I'll give you credit for, since that's applicable to changing schools. I did also notice that you didn't try to defend Lemming. At least you can admit that he, too, is a ND homer and actively recruits kids to ND - while supposedly being unbiased. Wait a minute-you give Little a pass because a spot at Georgia opened up at the last minute that he could fill, but you don't give the Iowa player a pass for coming to ND because a spot opened up at the last minute? What's the difference? I never gave Little a pass. I said that it was Bush League for Weis to call him out on it when he esentially did the same thing. Ok-that makes more sense, I was just a little confused. Sorry about that. Looking back, that's my fault. I can see where you thought I was defending him. My intention was to torch Lemming as much as possible at that point, since the "story" Lemming put forward looks crafted to save as much face for ND as possible. As much as I didn't like it, FSU essentially told him to look elsewhere. I hate when that's done to kids, but it's best that he be given the chance to look around and find somewhere he'll be a good fit. Somewhat the same situation as the kid who was originally committed to Louisville, but a little different coaching influence.
