  1. Brown needs more than 2 pitches to become an effective starting pitcher.
  2. I know this. It’s a unique situation and nothing more. I’m waiting for him to remember he’s Carson Kelly and not babe Ruth.
  3. I’m not complaining. I’m pointing out an incredibly unique situation.
  4. Carson Kelly coming off a 2 homer day with a 1.6K+ OPS and an MLB high 1.7 WAR has the day off. For the 14th time.
  5. Yanmo, Susaki, Glasnow, Cease, Pivetta, Vasquez, Burnes, Gallen…… When does this end?
  6. Ownership vetoed signing Bregman too. Hopefully tuckers the reason.
  7. What possible logic can you extract from trading bellinger to dump salary and vetoing a Bregman deal if the goal isn’t to retain Tucker? Other than a playoff mandate for Jed by ownership I’d be shocked if they don’t make a big offer. Trading for Tucker in the first place raises the bar of expectation from fans and will piss off marquee subscribers letting him walk around which is half of his revenue. hipe his wife green lights Chicago.
  8. Cubs have score 10 or more runs 5X in 17 games through April 13, it took them 138 games last season on August 22nd..
  9. Besides the Steele injury and what looks to be another black hole in the lineup at third until Shaw learns how to hit big league pitching (PCA too) they’ve looked encouraging so far. All of these runs and a bloated run differential for a 10-7 record and 1 game in front of Milwaukee for first. Typical. I’ll take it with this schedule.
  10. Which is why when people point to disappointing seasons from Cody Nico and Swanson being 50 runs behind last season and the pen struggles the ERA to FIP ratio is is the baseball gods/devils evening these things out. Also nice to see this Counsell managed teams only 4 wins below their expected pythag record instead 8 last season with Ross. I guess that’s why they gave him $40 million?
  11. Wow. I knew the offense would come crashing down to earth but 3 shutouts in one week? Just win 20/20 and our playoff odds are almost a sure thing. Craig Counsell is magic in September or something.
  12. “Relax, it’s only april/may/jun… cut Neris trade for catcher fire Jed blah blah”. They’re trending towards that 84-88 win range which is exactly what we expected.
  13. Only 7 XBHs and 2 home runs all series and they’re scoring over 6/game. I’ll take it
  14. Score between 0-3 runs for in 8 of 10 games, score 30 in 3 and back to their typical 0-3 run duds. Without that dude in the lineup who can pick up the slack of the role players from April-October and drive in all these stranded base runners. The offense is a ship without a captain. theyre the most consistently inconsistent Cubs team I’ve seen.
  15. I never said it’s permanent. In his small sample size he hasn’t been an upgrade over Morel. Since they’re scoring more runs it’s not a pressing issue.
  16. Peredes -.7 WAR in 22 games is a downgrade from Morels replacement level zero. Without PCA and Amaya sudden surge at the plate this would be a bigger topic.
  17. It’s one thing to be shutout, it’s another when 9/12 shutout losses your pitching staff allowed 3 or fewer runs with 3 losses ending in 1-0 score. Garbage
