A Pirate fan isn trying to talk us off the ledge. The Cubs make me feel like I'm walking into work with a black eye and telling everyone I walked into a wall. I wouldn't trade Steve Bartman for Dave Littlefield though. -
Needless to say, I've never seen a veteran team make so many fundamental mistakes. Dog days of summer indeed.

Field conditions are usually worse in the minors. The first basemen don't save as many errors as Derrek Lee either.

Are all baseball fans this stupid? Or just Cubs fans? People are comparing this deal to the Lou Brock and Greg Maddux trades. It just doesn't compare. That guy said he was a better defensive shortstop than Starlin Castro.

I hope the Cubs chip in the $4 million to get a better prospect. They will save that much in salary by the time the prospect gets to arbitration.

Two months of Lilly(the best starter on the market) and a pretty decent chance at a first round & sandwich pick. Lilly is (arguably) the best starter LEFT on the market. The teams that were prepared to pay up, have already filled their needs with better guys. Now what's left are the bargain-hunters, so this should come as no surprise. The only person better than Lilly to change hands is Oswalt. It's not like 4 teams have added SP and the Cubs are left to deal Lilly to either the Pirates or the Royals. The Yankees, Mets, Tigers, Dodgers, and Twins have been linked to Lilly. Haren Cliff Lee

Carlos Torres (CHW) faces Thomas Diamond (CHC). Diamond just struck out the first batter he faced and walked the second. He has only thrown fastballs to the first two batters. Diamond leads the PCL with 92 strikeouts and .213 opponent average.
