  1. That would be the cubs at 12-20. What do you guys think is the reason we've played so incredibly bad at home?
  2. Santo DHing would have just been wrong !! He was wrong for 47 games in 1974
  3. there's this teeny tiny itty bitty part of me that wants to see this team absolutely implode, blow this game, and run baker and company righto of town. But, alas, I cannot root against my team. . . . . SO SUCK IT UP CUBS AND GET A FREAKING WIN!
  4. his command was absolutely brutal. his curve hung on more than one occasion -- most times floating up and in to RH hitters. He can only get better from here. . . . i think.
  5. If money is truly the issue, I expect the trib to throw a freakin' fit. Afterall, if a payroll of 100 million produces a sold out stadium, national recognition, tons of shirt sales, etc all without winning, then a 50 million payroll that produces the same thing is all the more appealing to the owner.
  6. We didn't have Wood or Lee. That was way too easy :) We're just snakebit dude The wind was blowing out in the first inning. The wind blows straight into the ground when we hit.
  7. We didn't have Wood or Lee. That was way too easy :)
  8. i hope mark pitches better than that dude sings.
  9. woo hooo, Mark Prior is 4-0 when making his first start after being on the DL. ;alskdjrtoq0[wet;'qowe h;alsdk ;lkj!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. Crap, if we're going to sell out every game, why not take an Oakland style approach? Go cheap on payroll, but get the guys in the front office that know a baseball player when they see one. Then the big shots make their money by not spending much and maybe, just maybe the fans get something worth pissing on on the field. As it is now, it's a freaking embarassment, and I've never ever ever ever been embarassed to be a Cub fan (until maybe now). Just listening on the radio that past week or so, it's obvious that Ronny wants to lash out. . . . I sure wish he would.
  11. Turn out the Lights (The Party's over): 2006 Chicago Cubs
  12. The Cubs will never take this philosphy, but I say you pitch your way onto / off of the ml roster. In Marmol's case, he stays. In Fatty's case, he goes. . . ..far, far, away. . . . maybe even to a galaxy far, far, away.
  13. My first pack of baseball cards was a wax pack of 1989 donruss for $ .50 that had an Orel Hershiser card. I was king of the world. now you can get 89 donruss for less than 50 cents per pack :D
  14. My best baseball day was probably attending Sandberg's HOF induction. My most ironic game would be a game last season against the marlins (the game before they retired ryno's number). Greg maddux, one of the games greatest control pitchers, nails Dontrelle Willis in the ass to walk in what would be the game winning run.
  15. I have found that joe baseballfan thinks that neifi is good. Even joe cubfan thinks neifi is good. I have no idea why or how or what is wrong with these people. If used properly, Neifi would be a great 25th man / late inning defensive sub / $400,000 salaried player.
  16. i listened on the radio today and all i heard was "wha?? ah, jeeez, oh, no. . . wha? noooo, my gah, wha? how tha? . . . . "
  17. My first pack of cards was a pack of 85 Topps (my mom bought them for me). The top card was Ryne Sandberg.
  18. burke gets on base 5 times and scores 4 times. What the hell?
  19. yeah, but Rubby has it all. apparently there is a singer and 2 doctors in his family.
  20. according to the astrost annoucners, the cubs are 0-for-2006 when trailing by 4 or more runs at any point in the game :(
  21. Really? What are they praising him for? They've said (me paraphrasing) Perez has had a great career. Perez is a fine guy to have on your team. There's lots of talent in Perez's family. They've talked about him being a great player on more than one occasion.
  22. any chance that we can give Neifi to the 'stros? Their announcers have been kissing neifi's butt all night long.
  23. That needs to be an offiicial stat. I mean, look at Corey Patterson. Neifi is the king of SBT (stolen bases taken). maybe it will get him into the Hall of Fame. believe it or not, he's there. . . . or he was last summer. The HOF has a display of all the all-time stat leaders as well as the active stat leaders. Neifi is on the active leader board for triples.
  24. not looking good for sean. Cubs really need this one --- very important to get less than 10 games under .500. If it were up to me, I'd have the early hook. .. . one more run and he'd be gone.
