  1. When DeRosa signed with the Cubs, Hendry stated that DeRosa was signed to be the starting second baseman -- no more utility guy. Well, that was a lie. You bet your butt I'd be PO'd if I were DeRosa. He's done everything expected of him and it appears they are not happy with him.
  2. Just curious, but where did Theriot hit in the minors? I think, with Pie, it's terrible to hit him so far out of what he's done his entire minor league career. He's a free swinger and he'll get nothing but junk thrown at him in the 8 spot. Seems like Theriot would be good there because he can put the ball in play. Just an idea --- what's keeping Ramirez from hitting 3rd? Teams typically put their best hitter in that spot, and one could easily argue that Aram is the best hitter on the team. He's been very consistent since 04. It probably wouldn't change anything run wise, but would a 3-4-5 of Aram - Lee - Soriano be worth a shot? I'm like most of you -- I'll cheer on Theriot and hope he sets the world on fire. I do take comfort in knowing that Lou made needed changes last year when certain players were not performing. If Theriot does not perform, I would imagine that Lou will not sit back and let it happen without some kind of change in the lineup.
  3. Mike Marshall was probably the only guy slower than Jody Davis. http://farm1.static.flickr.com/203/470930453_00e182b949_o.jpg I didn't see the thing on HBO, but didn't Marshall (not the one above) say that Prior's mechanics were all out of whack long before he actually hit the DL?
  4. Not sure if that's true or not, but Arkansas won the SECT as a low seed back in 2000. They had 15 or 16 wins going into the tourney and reeled off 4 wins in 4 days. I do know they are the first team in the modern era to win two games in the same day (of a tournament). I was wanting the Bulldogs to win, but it actually might be better for my Hogs to play an exhausted UGA team. There will be a much larger crowd tomorrow and I'm sure the Bulldog faithful will fill the seats.
  5. Arkansas is off the bubble. If they can win tomorrow, they might get a very favorable seed from the committee.
  6. Steven Hill is my all-time favorite hog. He's a super kid and hustles his butt off. I was so happy that he got that last shot to fall. WOOOOOOOO PIG SOOIEEE!!!!! RAZORBACKS!!!!!!
  7. http://www.cbc.ca/gfx/topstory/sports/edwards_herman0108.jpg YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME!!!!
  8. you should call him Neifi when he's bad Actually, I just pull a Harry and curse at him.
  9. sometimes I lose my mind and call him Sand Ryneberg or Andre.
  10. I was fortunate. My wife thought the name "Ryne" was unique and she loved it. When we found out we were having a boy, I said, "how about Ryne David for a name?" She said, "sounds great." End of story.
  11. My son, Ryne, had my old Sandberg poster hanging in his room right up until we bought this new house. . . . . .Ryno was replaced by Alfonso Soriano. I put Ryno out in the shop with my other baseball cards. You won't find a much bigger Sandberg fan than me, but I quit on the cards when he retired. I was always just a topps / fleer / donruss kind of collector :) I always remember the day I met Ryno at the Albany Airport following the '05 HoF ceremonies --- super nice guy and super nice family. Man, you have have quite the collection --- great job!
  12. Ricky should get more than 90 percent of the vote. Dawson had a good showing last year. Maybe he gets the nod in '09.
  13. I was thinking about that season as well. Here's to a quick recovery for Davey! His 85 Donruss card is one of my favorites http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y169/bhogg/bd7d_1.jpg Lopes had a great career. . . his 28 homer season with the Dodgers was awesome. His 86 season with Houston wasn't too shabby for an old guy!
  14. If I recall, Marquis had difficulties with Duncan. It was like Marquis would listen to Duncan right up to being sucessful and that was it -- no more listening to his coach. They just finally had it with him. I doubt the comments hurt his value. Someone will be getting 200 innings for a very good price. At the same time, I sure don't think we'll get anything other than salary relief.
  15. Sam Fuld would have ran so fast a cloud of dust would have appeard -- blocking out the sun. Then, with teeth clinched and a grimace on his face, Fuld would will the ball into his glove while ripping a hole in the knee of his grass stained pants.
  16. Felix Jones looked great in the cutting drills. Peyton Hillis has helped his stock out quite a bit -- 4.54 seems very fast for a FB.
  17. I hated Nutt right up until he was canned. Now I love him. . . . . sorry, OMC. Now, back to the greatness that is Darren McFadden. Jerry Jones is going to give up the farm for him.
  18. Dmac ran that 4.33 with Houston Nutt firmly planted on his coattails. The guy will never give up.
  19. Sorry, but sometimes I vote with my heart, otherwise Gabby would get my vote. P - Jenkins C - Jody Davis 1b - Grace 2b - Sandberg 3b - Santo SS - Dunston. . . no, Banks. LF - Billy Williams CF - Sammy Sosa RF - Dawson
  20. What if Fuld out performs Pie in Spring Training? Stranger things have probably happened. In the end, I just want the best guy out in CF and think Piniella will see that that happens.
  21. Ryno, get on ebay and you can get an '84 Sandberg shirt for less than $150 -- sometimes less than $100. Granted, it may be a M and N knockoff, but it didn't matter to me. I just know there's no way I'm paying over $300 for a jersey.
  22. No sirs, those jerseys were glorious. 84 and 89 weren't bad years.
  23. bring 'em back! http://www.wrigleyvillesport.com/istarimages/mp/23084!MIT-3205220.jpg I'm not a big fan of the blue jerseys at home. They look okay on the road simply because the grays are so incredibly boring.
