  1. we are a positive group aren't we :) See, DeRo didn't hit into a DP --- he didn't hit it hard enough :( GEOVANY SOTO!!!!
  2. wow, looking at the side view of the 1b / base runner, you can see how thin and short the IF grass really is.
  3. Lou, please let that crap bag, Marquis, pitch every 5th day. Please do not let the economically efficient strike throwing machine, Lieber, start a game. Does DLee not understand I have him on my mlb "beat the streak" today? GET A HIT!!!
  4. Hill was at around 90 pitches. 6 innings and 2 earned --- not too shabby. Offense, please!!!!!!!!!!
  5. The 84 team was awesome. They had it all --- hitting, pitching, defense, and YOUTH. 85 saw teh 13 game losing streak. At the time, the cubs were something like 35-16 or 35-19. Also, the 85 team saw the entire starting rotation see time on the DL. Frey was fired the next year. I think management was too impatient with that group, but oh well. 89 was a team that wasn't expected to even win half its games. However, they got career years out of some guys on the pitching staff and ended up having the best record in the league. They didn't get many breaks in the post season and the Giants made quick work of them. If not for the douchebaggery of Larry Himes, 1993 could have been the year.
  6. FOO - KOO - DOH - MAY, clap clap clap clap clap!!!!
  7. I'm sure this has been stated, but Zambrano looks like a freakin' athlete today. And jeez, his ball has tons of movement today. CALL A STRIKE BLUE!!!!!
  8. What a goob. 5 Best OVERALL players: 4. Hanley Ramirez: His defense is shaky. . . . Last time I checked, being solid on defense was a big part of being and OVERALL great player.
  9. ...what? Just a hunch. Pie may well struggle early and Johnson is loaded with grit and play-the-game-the-right-way-edness. I see him as a Theriot with more talent.
  10. Johnson is going to be the everyday CF'er.
  11. With no circles comes no infield practice. With no infield practice comes terrible defense. With terrible defense comes losses. With losses comes another long season for Cub fans. Thanks alot for the new field, morans!
  12. those circles aren't pointless :) The coaches hit infield practice from there.
  13. wat? If we're going to get rid of murton for the sake of letting him start on another team, we might as well let our truly awesome players flourish in a better setting. It would be a terrible idea to have as many quality players as possible, regardless if they are starting for us. You nome sane?
  14. I wish they'd trade ARam. He deserves to win a WS title and I understand why he's not getting one here, so I wish they'd trade him to the RED Sox or Yankees..
  15. Give me a team full of guys that kick ass for 3 innings, thus eliminating close and late situations.
  16. I think it's too easy to say "Hendry is bad because he signed Soriano." The one thing we don't know is what Hendry's actual options were. Who else was realistically available to him as opposed to Soriano. Honestly, we don't win the Central last year without Soriano. I'm like everyone else and get caught up in the bashing of the GM and manager, but I do try and remind myself that we have a very very limited knowledge of what's going on.
  17. My first thought was "Alive" by Pearl Jam. All you'd need is the opening riff and intro -- no words. The intro to "Thunderstruck" would be cool, too.
  18. Regardless, I cannot dislike Jose Canseco. I don't know why. I grew up watchingh the Bash Brothers and maybe that has something to do with it. I'm a Canseco / McGwire fan --- A's only. I never cared for McGwire while he was with the cardinals. I know. . . I'm nuts.
  19. Do these goobs realize that now I have to adjust my MLB 08 season?
  20. I'm just glad no one has chosen to shoot me in the face. I forgot to mention that Kline was wearing his glove on his head (very much like the un-talented 10 year old little leaguer in left field), which made him super cool in my book.
  21. shoot me in the face for saying it, but I really like Steve Kline. When I went to see the cubs and Cards back in '04 (in STL), Kline was out signing autographs. No big deal as others were doing the same. I made the comment to one of the cardinal fans that I Thought Kline was a jerk. The guy told me that he understood, but to keep in mind that it's all an act with Kline. He's genuinely a good guy. Kline backed it up. Later, as all other players had left, Kline came back out prior to the game and signed more autographs and goofed around with the kids in the stands. I was impressed with him. He may well kill baby seals in his spare time, but I saw a different side of him that day.
  22. I'm not making an argument for or against anyone. I'm saying that I'd be pissed if I were DeRosa. If I were running the club, I'd much rather have a guy who's doing wht DeRosa is doing rather than have him say "aw shucks. I hope we get Roberts because he's better than me and will help us win." DeRosa believes in himself. He's on the team. Roberts is not. I just understand his frustration and think it's 100% merited.
