  1. Sign Soriano Sign Drew Get Westbrook or Lee from the Indians If not in the last one, dump Cesar and Jones for something Sign Lugo Sign at least one of the best pitchers still available We still under the luxary tax?
  2. It's real. In storylines the closest to a girlfriend CM Punk would have would be Kelly Kelly, who is the manager of his current rival Mike Knox but who appears to have feelings for Punk.
  3. Maria Kanelis who now works for WWF. She won some contest and now works for them. I know her and talk to her a few times a year. She is from Ottawa, IL where I live and she is smoking. She won that contest and the WWE kept her around. Do you mind giving me her number? :D  I know she is dating C.M. Punk from ECW. is that like real dating, or one of those fake wrestling relationships? They share a home together in real life.
  4. Heh, guess I just see a $10 million dollar catcher who put up a .725 OPS last year (admittingly hurt part of the year), and not the heart of the team.
  5. Crazy idea time, and one I don't even think I'd sign off on (and am not sure they would either, ha, but for some reason it popped in my brain.) Barrett and Jones for Varitek and Manny
  6. **bans you** Oh, crap, I'm not an admin here.
  7. I would have given Mussina that contract in an instant if he'd left New York.
  8. Thanks Serena, nice to see a little bit of hope. Hopefully the change continues.
  9. Backtobanks, minus 1 cool point for breaking up our Wuertz train. Oh, and... Wuertz
  10. Time will tell. If he plays good defense at second and is right at an .800 OPS, then Hendry was right. If he is closer to a .700 OPS, we're right. I personally and just begging to eat some [expletive] crow, but have waited a long time to have to do so...
  11. If Sammy wants to come back and give it one last try and really wants to mend fences with the Cubs, it's real simple Sammy. Ask to come to spring training as a non roster invitee. Personally call up Jim Hendry and make this request. Worst case, he stinks, formally retires with a fitting Wrigley Field send off, and rides into the sunset. Middle case, he's ok, can still nail lefties, and becomes Jacque's platoon partner, giving us a shot of a combined .900 OPS out of right field. Best case, happening in the land of make believe, would be the 2001 Sammy coming into camp, smashing Jacque over the head with his boombox and personally flinging him into the trade bin, and putting up a 1.000 OPS next season as our starting right fielder.
  12. Jacque Jones, Cesar Izturis, and Ryan Dempster for Miguel Tejada. Orioles get an "All-Star" replacement for Tejada, replaces his production with Jones (who would play left, where they need bigtime help), and get a pitcher who they'd convert back to starter and slot in at #3 in their rotation. Money is close to a wash, still leaving you a good 30 million to spend on Drew in right field. For center, play Pie, and/or have an open competition for the spot between Pie, Pagan, and anyone else you want to bring in to fight for it (Lofton?) My lineup Murton Tejada DLee Drew Aram Barrett DeRosa Pie
  13. I would really like to see the acceptable fans' list. From what I can tell, this board has narrowed Hendry's acceptable signing list to JD Drew and everybody else is subpar or a waste of money. Not true. Acceptable offensive players, to me, via free agency Soriano (CF) Drew (CF) Barry Bonds (glorified 4th OF, getting about 350 at bats spelling Jacque against lefties and Murton against righties that Bonds kills) Moises Alou (same role as Bonds) Nomar Garciaparra (middle infield) Ray Duram (2B) Tony Graffanino (middle infield) Julio Lugo (SS) Frank Catalanotto (4th OF) Cliff Floyd (4th OF) Juan Gonzelaz/Richard Hildago/Sammy Sosa (Spring training invites, OF) Gary Matthews Jr (CF) Trot Nixon (4th OF) Craig Wilson (4th OF) Obviouisly, some are not ideal, there's a few who would highly depend on the cost, and some wouldn't take the roles I want to give them, but all the above could be good singings that make me happy under the right circumstances. Pitchers Miguel Batista Roger Clemens Tom Glavine Ted Lilly Greg Maddux Vicente Padilla Jeff Weaver Any of those would be acceptable as the 5th starter on our team, with the right contract
  14. I tell you, only Jimbo could look at a pool of Vincente Padilla, Miguel Batista, Ted Lilly, Gil Meche, etc., and pull the wrong one out. I've supported Hendry a lot in the past, but this is just getting ridiculous. We overpaid by about a million a year for DeRosa. Forgiveable, if he was really Hendrys starting 2B target, well, he's dumb, but I can forgive overpaying to get your man. But overpaying by a million a year for Hank White? Idiocy. Soto would have done fine. There would be multiple veteran backups who can't hit available all the way up until the start of the season, mostly for the minimum. And now we're going to pay a quick sign premium to Gil freaking Meche? Inexcusible. Between these three we'll be paying 11.5 to 15 million depending on Meche's contract. Waste.
  15. Going by the rumor with Cleveland, our rotation could very easily be Carlos Zambrano Rich Hill Jake Westbrook Gil Meche Wade Miller/Mark Prior/Young arm Not jumping up and down at that. Really going to need Prior to make a comeback to have a real chance.
  16. The contract will be the biggie for me. 3/15? Ok, not so bad, so long as he has a fair to middling season he'll be tradeable at 2/10. But something stupid like 3/25? Hell no. However, if we're just looking for a 5th starter innings eater who can (probably) keep his ERA south of 5, why not just tell Dempster to start?
  17. How stupid. I think we could have done better than Hank for $2.5 million.
  18. With his "tools" and switching leagues, I don't think a career year is out of the question next year. However, if we're trying to re-create the Reds success with Arroyo this season, we'd be much better off with Ted Lilly. So, yeah, once again, bad Hendry. [-X
  19. Has it been confirmed that Aram was a Sunday signing? Shouldn't have been that hard to retro fit it to Saturday and everyone say it took a while to announce with a straight face. :D
  20. This is however how we lose out by having corporate ownership and not just some rich dude. If Cuban owned this team he might have bid 60 just to be safe.
  21. Overpaying by about one million to one and a half million per year. Forgiveable. Overpaying for three years. Stupid, but forgiveable. In the big picture of our offseason? Just about meaningless. Riot or DeRosa would likely put up similiar numbers. It sucks that $4 mil is gone, but it's just 4 out of 115 or 120. Life goes on. So long as he isn't promised the job and has to work for it, not a big deal. I just hope Uncle Lou will give the job to the better man.
