  1. Hell yeah Seiya and Happ. I thought the trajectory of the Suzuki double had sharp line out to 3rd written all over it.
  2. By my count, Helsley has allowed 11 baserunners in 4 innings vs the Cubs and is 4/4 in saves.
  3. I'd be very curious to know the Cubs' internal evaluation of Shaw's defense at third base so far. Error wise it seems totally fine but obviously there's more to the story than that
  4. You could tell by Martinez' reaction, he thought that Belli double was gone. And I'm a little confused myself how that stayed in.
  5. I don't have data to back this up, but it feels to me like more pitches in the zone have been called balls this year so far than in years past. The older umps with huge zones seem to be adjusting to avoid the robot takeover and may be overcompensating
  6. xBA of .520 to get us right back into the game, with more runners on base, turns into a DP Followed by that complete slop of a hit
  7. We've seen pitches in the location of that HBP get called strikes
  8. This hurts. Madrigal is a big upgrade over the literal worst defensive third baseman in baseball, but that play certainly won't help his case to remain on the MLB roster for much longer.
  9. I can't believe Helsley got 2 saves his last 2 outings. They were on everything
  10. MLB Network can cut away now. No hitter over after 3.0 innings
  11. I mean Swanson hasn't been good this year, but they showed that Gray is mostly sweepers in that spot. That particular instance isn't a bat speed issue or whatever; that was just guessing wrong
  12. I'm a little surprised he took that AB with Happ and Madrigal's contact ability available.
  13. That horrible call still kinda hurt with them being able to roll their lineup over with just one out. That might sound weak but whatever
  14. Not that PCA is a finished product offensively, but it sure feels like he was just pressing to start the season at Iowa to try to impress, and the 2023 MLB 0-fer probably didn't help. Now, after getting sent down on a positive note, I'm expecting him to put up some really good numbers at AAA for a month or two. Hot take: all of our outfielders getting hurt in April saved (jumpstarted is probably more accurate) PCA's season and gave him a needed pick me up
  15. If Happ doesn't run, there's a decent chance that's a double play.
