  1. What Robert has proven is that he's a 5+ WAR talent that's consistently worth half of that because he's played more than 100 games in a season one time in his career. When/if he gets traded, the White Sox wont be getting 2 top 50 prospects in return.
  2. I wouldn't. They can have one of them. I'm not depleting the top of the farm for 1 guy thats had a single full season in 5 years.
  3. They'll score 8 and make it 10-8, have the bases loaded with no outs in the 9th and the game will end 10-8.
  4. Considering he was optioned after ST, he can obviously be moved down, but he's not going any where. The Cubs have too many injured pitchers.
  5. On the bright side, none of these runs are earned so they dont count!
  6. He's -5 expected HRs in Wrigley. That's tied for 2nd lowest. When I say extreme pull only power I mean EXTREME. The majority of his HRs are right down the line. The Astros, if they can make it work by flipping Bregman to someone looking for a cheaper option, should push for Paredes. He would destroy in that park.
  7. All depends on how you think his extreme pull only power will translate in Wrigley. It better be a slam dunk because it's going to cost a slam dunk package.
  8. Morel just needs to be traded. Maybe there's a team out there you can sell on his batted ball profile to suggest he's been "unlucky" for 370 PAs and counting. I'd like to think his value is still relatively high given the 2 WAR projections and near 30 HRs with 4+ years of control. I'd love to think a team like the Red Sox would be interested in a 2B and with Connor Wong turning into a .300 hitter, what would it take to get Kyle Teel?
  9. $/WAR is trending down. Given the lack of talent in upcoming FA classes, I wouldn't expect the number to climb compared to the last few years. The only players that reach that $8M+ per WAR number everyone keeps referencing are the elite of the class, typically, most everyone else falls way short.
  10. Why on Earth would the Cubs be willing to overpay for Vlad Jr? Michael Busch has matched him offensively and is much better defensively. Vlad would be a DH on a 1 year deal with an arbitration number that would most likely easily surpass his value on the field.
  11. Are you under the assumption the Cubs would trade Nico for something that doesn't help the team compete next year?
  12. Has Morel swung the bat one time tonight where it looked like he agreed with his decision mid swing?
  13. Good. Bury us so Jed doesnt chicken out again at the deadline like last year.
  14. So we just need to fill the lineup with .300 hitters that also slug? That shouldnt be too hard. We already have 0, so we just need to replace everyone.
  15. Jed still holding out for that first 3 game win streak since April. This team is going to bounce back and make the playoffs!
  16. Happ is one of the last players on the roster this team will move. Pushing Bellinger on someone like the Yankees should be priority #1. He's turned into a lesser, left handed, version of Isaac Paredes. His power is all to the pull field and his quality of contact is in the dumpster. Last year he still had opposite field power, but leaned heavily to the pull side. This year is purely pull field with nothing coming close opposite field. At this point, I'm not convinced he opts out, especially with a slip defensively. He's not playing like someone who can take over CF this year. Just eat his remaining 2024 salary and get back something somewhat decent and get out from under that uncertainty.
  17. I dont know exactly what people expect to get out of players like Taillon or Happ. Taillon has 2.5 years left under contract and while he's making a reasonable $17M AAV, he hasnt even lived up to that AAV in his first 1.5 years of the deal. Happ has the same 2.5 years left and outperforms his AAV by a little, but not a whole lot. Then you have to find a team he would wave the NTC for and find something that team has that you like that's willing to give up on a 3 fWAR player on a reasonable deal and its most likely going to be a player thats years away because a Happ isn't the type of player thats going to attract near MLB ready prospects, at least not ones that you would hope match his production. It's Bellinger and Hoerner, imo. Hoerner is legitimately the only player this team could move and make any kind of organizational shift. If you eat all of Bellinger's remaining 2024 salary and talking to the Yankees, since they seem interested and need 1B/CF, you are probably only looking at something like Clayton Beeter + Agustin Ramirez. The rest are just marginal moves from our "depth" of pitching.
  18. Counsell is just conserving his energy for when he has a team that doesnt have a lineup where 1/3 of it is hitting below the Mendoza line.
  19. If you could guarantee me Busch can play 2B at the major league level, the Cubs used prospects to trade for Vlad, and Juan Soto signed on the dotted line, then I would be all for trading Hoerner and Happ. But you can't guarantee that. I'd love to hear an alternative plan that's more realistic that improves the team more than having Happ and Hoerner on the 2025 roster.
  20. You really dont know the point of the post you quoted? It's only in the first and last sentence of the post. Like I said, reading comprehension is in order here. You took a middle piece that stated a fact regarding the teams situation, ignored the context, and regurgitated your own horsefeathers. That's your own problem you need to work out.
  21. No one is calling for less spending. I stated a fact. If that boils your blood then there's not much that can be said. Maybe reading comprehension is in order?
  22. In order to be worried there first needs to be something to worry about. There's nothing to worry about when it comes to 2024 Cubs baseball any more.
  23. They only make additional money off the jersey's sold at Wrigley.
