  1. You projecting 100% health for LF/CF/RF/DH/1B? I'm pretty confident Tauchman will carve out 250-300 PA's if he remains on the Cubs and I'm pretty confident that equals more WAR than what Pearson was pacing for on his time with the Cubs.
  2. This sounds a lot like the belief that Jameson Taillon would get traded at the deadline because he was so valuable. I like Tauchman in his role. He's a 34 year old 4th outfielder that has a plus approach at the plate. He's not bringing anything significantly roster changing back in trade. At best you could probably expect a project reliever in the Nate Pearson mold. Is that more valuable to the Cubs than Tauchman? I tend to think not.
  3. A good hitter is a good hitter. Splits matter when they are lopsided. They aren't for Tauchman. Yankees are over there carrying Trent Grisham at $5.5M as their bench OFer and we are acting like Tauchman doesnt fit. You guys have insane standards for bench players.
  4. People spend too much time on this RHH vs LHP and vice versa horsefeathers. Tauchman carries the exact same career wRC+ against LH and RH pitching. He carrries a better average against LHP than he does RHP. They have to first get that 5th outfielder before Tauchman becomes redundant. They havent done that and there's no reason to believe they will. They have $50M to work with to find a catcher and pitching and replace the infield bench.
  5. I'm going to assume a chunk of the PAs Wisdom was forced into to end the season will go to Tauchman and Wisdom is pretty clearly going to be gone. Without a move for a DH/OF, I dont see the redundancy in Tauchman. He's currently the bench OFer. Something every team carries on the roster.
  6. Where does this belief that Tauchman is inevitable to be traded come from? Is it just hope? He's a 360 OBP 4th outfielder for what? $3M? Trade him to call up one of your top prospects that are striking out 30% of the time in AAA? I dont see it as inevitable.
  7. The Rays could have handled Paredes too. It's what teams like them do. It's how they survive. They dont wait til the last minute to trade someone when they aren't going to be competitive from now til then. There's no point in watching value dwindle for the sake of having 1 good player on a ****** team that cant afford to build in FA.
  8. Because they suck and they don't carry any payroll ever and that's what teams like that do to bulk buy top prospects.
  9. Seems inefficient to me. Using significant capital to bolster the teams strength versus the teams weakness? Rather focus on dealing for a cost controlled SP or catcher.
  10. They have this without Rooker. Going to trade for Rooker and then Bellinger becomes your Tauchman? Cool. Just remove 200 PA's from the guy you are paying $27M so he is assuredly going to opt in again next year.
  11. Good one. Now can you also assume which player gets sacrificed for his PAs? Since you know... the roster is full. Go hard after a catcher and pitching. Its the only thing this team can do at this point.
  12. And put him where?
  13. Jed didn't. He was out there trying to speak it into existence that he opted out.
  14. Been saying for awhile now that the only thing that made sense to me was him opting out because he believe another team would give him CF on a similar opt out heavy 1 year contract to boost that value for a longer term deal in the future. He wasn't going to come close to that $27.5M though. Now trade him to the Yankees, because they just declined Rizzo's option.
  15. Trade Bellinger if he opts in. Sorry, but you can't go into a 3rd season with the same damn lineup. A new look bench isn't good enough at this point.
  16. No they cant, but lets not act like Boras isn't out there getting feelers for the market right now.
  17. On the contrary, it is actually a very big deal if Alcantara spends another season in the minors because he needs it. He will be out of minor league option years at the start of the season, meaning his value will absolutely tank the following year.
  18. You can probably go down every NFL teams history and find someone accused of something pretty heinous and still giving out second chances, key word being accused. I've been a Chiefs fan since about '96-97 and you dont have to go back too far in their history to find someone. They drafted Tyreek Hill and not many people were thinking he would be drafted with the off field baggage he was bringing.
  19. You don't have to worry about him getting a QO. The Dodgers were questioning whether or not to put him on the playoff roster. 15 innings isn't going to change how they feel. It's going to be a thank you and have a good day.
  20. He's pitched 140 innings in the last 3 years and was bottom 20th percentile in pretty much everything coming off his 2nd TJS. He's not getting more than 1 guaranteed year from a team like the Pirates. The Cubs need to be past the point of rebuilding flip candidates.
  21. My offseason expectations are simply to be left wanting more from the 4th largest market in baseball.
  22. There's no interest on Ohtani's contract, so... You keep wanting to use cars as an analogy, but it fails because your car isn't making you money in the process. You think the Dodgers are worried about paying Ohtani money in the future? No. They are going to pay him back with just a portion of the money he brought in.
  23. What is your point? His contract still counts $43M against the tax.
  24. That depends entirely on the makeup of the roster. Regardless of that, where are the Cubs going to fit a "good young player"? Nowhere. The team is up and down full of "good young" to "good middle age" players. This team needs stars right now. Another 2-3 win player isn't putting us over the top and a guy like Alcantara isn't breaking the roster.
  25. When was the last time you looked?
