  1. Dumatrait had an ERA of 15.00 and a WHIP of 2.83 last year in 18 innings :o
  2. This team is pathetic if they don't rock Livan
  3. Pie just swung at ball 4 twice in a row
  4. DARYLE WARD So what are they, like 1-5?
  5. Have the Cubs won an extra inning game yet this year?
  6. I guess that would make sense, since the bullpen has been so taxed the last few days. He should get some type of work, don't want him to come back rusty for his next start.
  7. Sorry if this is a dumb question, but he only threw 10 pitches, so does Lou let him start again tomorrow or just give him his normal rest? He's struggled lately but I'd like to see him out there again, if anything he'll be pumped to go after the BS he went through tonight.
  8. funny, yet true Sorry if it's already been posted.
  9. Dusty, is that you? Speed isn't this team's problem.
  10. Plenty of chance. You definitely do not know that the Cubs will keep Hendry if next season is another disappointment. Zero chance. What is it that you know and we don't?
  11. Bingo. Dusty actually thinks the Neifi's and Jones' of the world are good. I wouldn't be surprised if Dusty would take Jones over Giles. Same with Hendry.
  12. This makes the most sense, but it doesn't seem to be an option in Hendry's mind  . He WILL trade Walker.
  13. I don't understand why people are saying this is a good deal for the White Sox. Marte may be a bit of a headcase, but he has certainly proved he can be a very good reliever. Mackowiak looks like an average bench player to me. What's the deal?
  14. If I can get Dunn for Pie, I do it in a second. Dunn is better right now than Pie will be even if he hits his ceiling IMO.
  15. What about instead of Pie, we use Murton to get either Abreu or Dunn. With the way Murton performed for the short time he was up last year, his value is probably as high as it's going to be for a while. Would Murton, Hill and Williams get either Dunn or Abreu? If it did, we could then sign someone like Jones or Sanders for the other outfield spot, and keep Patterson in center or trade for Pierre.
  16. The only good thing about this signing is that I picked Eyre to go to the Cubs for the FA contest. Actually, if Dusty uses him correctly (yeah right)this could be a good signing.
  17. I could live with Wilkerson in CF but I am not sure he thrills me in RF batting 5th. He only hit .248 with 11 HR's last year. His OPS was pretty much the same as Burnitz. Apparently Wilkerson had shoulder problems last year which gave him trouble swinging the bat. If he goes back to '03 and '04 form (.844 and 872 OPS) I will gladly take him in right.
  18. There's no reason to give up Hill for Pierre. Didn't Hendry say he wouldn't trade Hill for Dunn? Of course, Pierre might be better than Dunn in Hendry's twisted world  . Sadly, I woulnd't even be that surprised if that trade went down.
  19. This is what a smart team would do. I'd much rather have Giles/Neifi/Walker over P. Wilson/Furcal/Neifi. And yes I put Neifi in there because as long as he isn't hurt, he will be starting on Dusty's squad.
  20. If you trade that much for Wilkerson and Livian, I doubt you have enoug trade bullets left to get Dunn or Abreu. You'd be left to trying to sign Giles or looking at other targets. You think the Cubs are giving up too much in that deal? When I wrote it I figured I would get the response of "That isn't enough to get it done." I would say the only (potentially) major loss in that trade is Hill, and I'm far from sold on him. I never said you were giving up too much, just when we do that deal, we won't have the right players left to get a Dunn or Abreu. You don't think the Reds would get enough in this deal: Cubs get: Dunn Twins get: Walker Reds get: Pie, JC Romero, Jerome Williams I think it could be done. It won't, but it could be done. I think the Reds are getting enough, but the Cubs are giving up too much.
  21. Those are Bill James projections. 21 HRs for Pie? Seriously? I'll take those numbers from Pie, Cedeno, and Murton. Most of those projections (not just the Cubs) seem to be a little high.
  22. The point is that Cruz's value at the time did not match what we got for him. We could've gotten a better player for him.
  23. SS Furcal 2b Neifi 1b Lee 3b Aram Rf Mench C Barrett Lf Murton Cf Patterson I can't wait.
