  1. What else would it be? It would probably be pretty clear when that was the intent or not. If you were an ump would you put up with players doing that to you?
  2. No the tapping was for earlier this season according to Derwood, there was no challenge system in place at that time. Obviously if the challenge system is in place next year there's nothing wrong with tapping your helmet to start a challenge.
  3. Tapping your helmet is disrespectful to the umpires and I have no issue if a player is tossed for it. Missing 22 calls out of around 300 pitches in any given game sounds pretty good. The umps missed calls on the Cubs in game 3 too, including probably the out call at home plate that cost them at least a run. Any Padres fan or player blaming that loss on the ump is a sore loser and should be blaming the Padres players for not hitting better. Funny they say nothing about the other 2 strikes on Xander that AB. Having the K zone box on TV has had the benefit of keeping umps more accountable, but has also made fans and players complain even more for every ump that is as 100% perfect as a computer system. Umps are 10x more accurate than 20 years ago, there will never be a "Livan Hernandez" zone again, but people still won't stop complaining and won't give these guys a break, most of them are doing their best. The Padre who harassed that ump like a sore loser should be fined and given a soother to help his crying.
  4. He might have pitched Game 1 of wild card round, so could start twice in division series. Oh well
  5. Yeah I think he wanted the glove with the lead. Man on 2nd and 3rd with 2 out and Shaw up vs RHP maybe you'd have seen Mo, but hard to say. Mo is more of a 9th inning inning weapon I think.
  6. Brewers are the best running team in baseball, I wouldn't do that.
  7. He definitely has gone all-in on win-now mode the last few years.
  8. You wonder if Assad could be added to the roster, but there's no room for him. We're lucky that basically everyone in the pen has been effective for us. *knock on wood
  9. Unknown i believe. Woodruff is still a question mark. On the IL with a lat strain since Sept 18.
  10. I agree. Boyd will be the only one to potentially get 2 starts.
  11. From what I can see, one difference between the TV zone and statcast is that the TV zone seems to show personalized zones for every hitter, while statcast seems to have the same sized zone for every hitter. Like how Bellinger has a very tall zone on TV while PCA's doesn't extend very high at all. Technically the rules say the strike zone is different for every hitter, as the bottom and top of the zone is measured by each hitters stance in the box from their knees to the midpoint of their torso.
  12. That's disgusting behaviour, who was that?. Blaming the umps for losing is weak 100% of the time IMO. They're human beings and do their best and aren't perfect just like any player.
  13. Well I guess it's between Boyd, Rea, and Assad lol. I assume they announce it some time tomorrow. Whoever starts Game 1 and 2 will likely start Game 4 an 5.. All 3 starts this past series the pitchers went 4 innings, something to keep in mind. With all the off days this series you could potentially see pen guys like Keller, Palencia, Kittredge in every single game if Counsell wanted. Unfortunately Peralta has eaten us alive the last 2 seasons. Woodruff though is questionable for the series being on the IL since Sept 18 with a lat strain.
  14. It would be 3 days rest but i guess it is possible they pitch Boyd on Sat Gane 1. With all these off days coming this series you figure the pens will used a lot and SP get pulled quick. Maybe not in game 1 though since Cubs pen may still be a little gassed from Padres series.
  15. Yeah that rest day on Sunday will be huge. Some guys might still be a bit gassed on Saturday but hopefully adrenaline gets us through.
  16. I'm watching Machado sulk like a little biatch right now. Not sure there's 2 active players I dislike more than Tatis and Machado. Except for the entire Milwaukee Brewers roster lol.
  17. Did they cut the broadcast quickly for the Yankees have for everyone? Grrr
