  1. I think I saw 3 to Morel within an inning or 2 of his 2x error inning. I may have missed more.
  2. The Angels were bunting like mad on Morel at 3B, they smelled weakness after the 2 errors. Weird thing to do in a ST game.
  3. Kilian experienced shoulder discomfort last night when pulled. MRI done and awaiting results: https://www.bleachernation.com/cubs/2024/03/06/caleb-kilians-injury-issue-was-with-his-shoulder-and-it-is-concerning/
  4. He's a TJS guy so it might just be teams being careful and building him up slow.
  5. Why is that? Just noticed he's dropped to #11 on the MLB.com Cubs Top 30 prospects which was just updated, down from #6. Which doesn't really mean anything, just reflects the walk issues he had in AAA last year.
  6. Yeah gotta think Almonte is a lock since he has no options, and Cuas has 2 options left. Assuming Wicks is the #5 SP, the 8th pen spot is between Wesneski, Cuas, Thompson, Palencia, Little, and maybe Kilian. Nobody else is on the 40-man. I think Cuas has the upper hand there. Wesneski probably needs work again in AAA.
  7. In 159 IP at all levels in his career he's given up only 2 HR and ridiculous K/9, he's a beast.
  8. Davis had a previous concussion?
  9. I think given his tools it's pretty unlikely that when healthy he's the sub-200 AVG. and .231 BABIP hitter he was last year in AAA. We don't know exactly what he is yet or what his k% would be but he does have some power and looks healthy this spring. I still like him as a prospect, it's the health that is worrisome not the talent IMO.
  10. Trade Bellinger right now
  11. I guess nobody really knows since the game wasn't televised.
  12. Cooper and Dom Smith in the lineup today. If Cooper is on the team I'd think Wisdom is traded to make roster and payroll space.
  13. Shaw has some of the most PAs on the team so far. In terms of minors league guys usually they give the most PAs to players they think may see MLB action this year. Shaw has been looking really good offensively this spring, wonder if a late season callup is in the cards this year if there's an injury etc. Hitting wise he looks pretty close. Imagine they want to work him at 3B and 2B more in the minors.
  14. Given the budget Hoyer had to spend I'd give the offseason an A or A-. A bit iffy on Hendricks but I think they wanted a 1 yr guy with all the kids coming so that's fine. Hard to imagine a better offseason on that budget.
  15. Andruw Jones was the best defensive CF in baseball history, according to the stats.
  16. His slider wasn't very good, could be the dry AZ air or just it being early.
  17. I get the hesitancy on Bellinger but it's weird Chapman didn't get more. I guess the market is hurting because of the TV deal stuff.
  18. Counsell not really looking for a DH, will go by committee and will use it to rest regulars too: https://www.bleachernation.com/cubs/2024/03/01/cubs-tentatively-looking-to-rotate-players-at-designated-hitter/
  19. For a big power guy he has a beautiful swing. He's definitely not just up there playing HR derby. Triantos also has a beautiful swing.
  20. The other sun play: https://twitter.com/search?q=pca cubs&src=typed_query&f=top
  21. What does Cubs twitter think of PCA? I don't go on twitter a ton.
  22. Thanks for the heat maps, that's so helpful. Red flag for me is that swing and miss on the fastballs up was happening in Sept and he was apparently working on it throughout the winter and the same thing is happening again now in ST. Though maybe he didn't see a lot of live ABs over the winter so there's room for adjustment. Let's hope.
  23. Where did you get the gun readings? Were you at the game? Yeah might be a pen guy at this point
  24. Sucks for Davis on the concussion. I've been beaned flush on the head when I was younger, not MLB mph obviously, but it still concussed me slightly, enough to get checked out at the ER to be safe. Mostly just some sensitivity to light for a week or 2. Maybe he woke up with a bit of a headache too.
  25. Like they said, he bobbled the ball on the transfer on a potential double-play then rushed the throw to get the runner at 1B and threw off mark. A few games ago I saw Morel charge in to take the in-between hop on a grounder instead of the long or short hop. Luckily he made the play. I'm hoping he just needs lots of reps. But he should have taken a gazillion grounders at 3B over the winter you'd think, which is a bit worrisome. But he's made good plays at 3B this ST too, his hands/reactions seem quick enough, hopefully its mostly just the judgement stuff, which can improve with reps. It's still Feb and hasn't play in live games since Winter Ball, and i'm sure he's getting reps in on the days he isn't playing. Not worried about anything in Feb.
