Agree. So if Steele and Taillon are back who gets sent down or cut? Probably Brown to stay stretched out in Iowa. And Little? That would be a shame.

Not a bad idea. Morel could be backup at SS along with Nico. Ideally I don't want Wisdom to replace Cooper though.

He was at 100 pitches. Wicks matched Yamamoto against the Dodgers lineup, fantastic start for him. Can't stand how inconsistent Cuas is his release. He just seems so sloppy. Wouldn't be thrilled with him coming in with guys already on.

Maybe more the higher effort and focus on velo and spin rates. Can't compare to how guys threw several decades ago.

Yes love it. Busch and Morel are a big improvement on Mancini/Hosmer. I'll take Busch in for Tauchman too even if Tauchman isn't terrible. Cubs may not have a superstar position guy but if you're solid 1 through 9 without any black holes you can be a good offense. Hoyer has done a good job on the position side. Pitching is still meh, but passable. But if i'm investing more money somewhere it would be on position guys over pitchers because of the injuries.

Yeah hard to compare Assad vs Rockies and Hendricks vs Rangers/Dodgers.

I think that's probably it more than anything. I'm not quite worried yet. He overachieved a bit last year too i think. Had among career lows in HR/9 and HR/FB and had career low in K/9 since rookie season. At this point he's a pretty average MLB starter at best, he just doesn't get the K's like he used to, possibly because the league has advanced in velo.

He did ok. It's the Dodgers and fielders missed at least 2 balls because of sun/wind.

Madrigal is one heck of a defensive 3B. Fast reactions, very good hands, accurate enough arm and gets rid of ball quickly.

Nico's swing decisions are forever stupid.

Pretty sure he lost it in the sun or wind. He usually makes those plays, and he missed it pretty bad.

Possibly. Canario has had a lot of time in CF through his career though. But Canario also will likely be recalled before PCA and possibly play CF at times if they want to give Bellinger the odd day at DH.

Saw that PCA started in LF a few games ago, with Canario in CF. Not a bad idea to give PCA some experience at the other 2 positions.

The offspeed/breaking stuff away seemed like an achilles heel for Morel last year. Big pull hitter. Interested to see how he deals with that stuff this year. I suspect Canario may be similar based on the approach. Texas and Rockies don't have the best pitching so i'll reserve judgement, but he's looked great since ST. Power is obviously there. Contact % in the zone was also an issue for him last year.

Love it. This is why he gets tons of K's in the minors, and MLB hitters won't hit it very well either.

Not sure his minors splits but that 12-6 curve should help him with the splits.

Interesting. Found the article. Value and revenue is right where the Red Sox are. If "operating income" is basically "profit" (revenue minus expenses) then the Cubs were tied for 2nd with the Pirates for most profitable teams last year, though many teams turned a profit of between 50-65m last year.
