  1. I have some de ja vu dealing w/ the Sox but I could get behind a Cease trade pretty quickly, even if it meant Armstrong Alcantara Brown and change (although I’d hang up before they ask for Cade) That trade + Cade’s pending call up solves all the velo issues in the rotation. But definitely at a price..
  2. For the people that are disappointed in not getting Glasnow, it’s clear now that the cubs would have had to give up morel and maybe more, seeing what they got from the dodgers worth it for a guy who will pitch 5 innings every time he goes out there and almost surely miss 1/4 of the season at minimum?
  3. They’ll prob re sign Belli, sign Hader, and swing a Dylan Cease trade with the Sox 🙂 at the very least if they swing the top 2, and any kind of meaningful trade hard to say this was a bad off season
  4. They’ll prob re sign Belli, sign Hader, and swing a Dylan Cease trade with the Sox 🙂
  5. Unpopular opinion but I actually think Jed is a great GM and way better than Theo, even if the WS hasn’t followed yet. There is a reason that this team has the type of rotation and young pitching it hasn’t had in 20 years with the ability to add even more. He’s drafted great (Horton, Shaw , Wicks are slam dunk type picks) , made solid trades (Armstrong, Caissie, Alcantara, Brown) None of those guys except Wicks have done anything in big leagues yet for the cubs, yet they were still 1 game away from the playoffs last year because of that aforementioned pitching depth. Also fixed Steele, also got Counsel
  6. How’s this for a trade idea Christopher Morel for Triston McKenzie
  7. lol who cares. They had like the 6th best run differential last year, it’s time to go for it. Anybody in this fan base that thinks like you do is being ridiculous and how you end up 108 years without a championship Revolutionary idea here maybe they can do what you said and also spend in FA
  8. Yamamoto or Bellinger returning almost seems like a must have now. Total failure off season if they can’t do that
  9. Hoskins is so mid, but if they can come away with Yamamoto I almost don’t care what they do after that
  10. I’m not sure if this has been discussed but a hitter/closer combo would be interesting for Ohtani if they want to mitigate a bit of risk and pressure on him after 2 elbow surgeries
  11. This would be amazing too, they could use some of our young pitching
  12. That is a good point I’m hoping that they learned from that and with new leadership would maybe do it differently… and maybe they see the cubs as good trade partners given how good Valazquez has been and how much young pitching we have to offer
  13. if the right names get floated, I’d think they’d have to listen. I’m not brushed up on prospects but Caissie Alcantara and maybe both Morel and Ben Brown
  14. I can actually see this being the first big move the cubs make, an under the radar move that fills a huge need the cubs love south paws and the Counsel connection,
  15. If the cubs are really in on a guy like Bichette, pay more and go get Witt Jr. That kid is a special player, he will win an MVP some day and would be a gold glove caliber 3rd baseman.
  16. I don’t think it’s realistic but Bobby Witt Jr would be amazing to man 3rd base, I’d rather have him than Soto if they are making a splash. i doubt he gets traded though
  17. you don’t think he’s “that good” to lead a team with a top 3-4 run differential to a playoff birth? maybe you can appreciate how awful Ross was a little bit more. What I said is a 100% accurate. The cubs could run it back with the same team + Counsell and they are easily a playoff team. and the part about him being more valuable than Belli is true too, he gave his last team 9 years of elite service. Bellinger hasnt given any team 9 years of elite play and won’t in his next contract either. Soto is 50-50 but I’d rather have Counsell
  18. For me this move is as significant as getting Soto. Bellinger or anybody else. If the Cubs got those players I can see a scenario where they miss the playoffs. With CC it’s hard to imagine them not a playoff team almost right away. Even with no other changes. He really is that good
  19. I’m dazed by happiness at this move
  20. I secretly wanted this to happen and didn’t think they’d do it, no matter what happens next Jed has my respect forever that they are doing everything possible to improve the team
  21. This collapse is so sickening, fire Ross and do anything to get Counsell
  22. If the Cubs miss the playoffs, Ross has to go..it just is what it is
  23. What a joke he wasn’t even running just take your time
