  1. I was at the game last night, fun atmosphere. After Seiya hit his HR it sounded like an explosion. I had pretty good seats, a couple rows behind Cubs dugout. And I got to appreciate how hard Tommy Hottovy's job is. How the hell can they tell if a pitch is a slider, changeup or fastball from that angle? Or even if it's slightly outside? It's just crazy how fast these guys throw. It's a blur
  2. Wow, didn't realize how bad he's been this year. That really sucks for him going into FA. If he was a FA last year he probably would have gotten 150m. Thoughts on Kelly? He's extremely old but I guess, half season commitment isn't the worst. Solid numbers.
  3. I'm not the best at mock trades lol. Maybe Caissie and just a lower level guy? But, I definitely think the Cubs have the ammunition to get it done and without much regret. This would be such a well rounded team with both Gallen + Suarez.
  4. I think the best trade is a Suarez/Kelly or Suarez/Gallen combo deal. IMO, that would make it worth it for Jed to give up Caissie+, which is where that convo probably begins. Just spitballing - maybe Owen Caissie, Ben Brown, Ballesteros and a low level guy with potential for Suarez and Gallen? I'd bet the D Backs want guys that are near MLB ready, since they have a pretty good roster in place. Just a bad year for them in a loaded division.
  5. I'm not comparing Eugenio Suarez to Kyle Tucker, one is a good player and the other is a top 10 player in baseball. But the effect that Tucker has had in lengthening this lineup and making the Cubs the best offense in the game vs right handed pitching - I absolutely think Suarez would have a similar effect for the Cubs vs LHP. They would have the most potent all around lineup in baseball with that move and it'll be downright frightening to play this team in October. All of a sudden, I'm not really scared facing the Phillies or the Dodgers. Hopefully, they consider it
  6. It would make a ton of sense for the Cubs to create 1 fat package for the Diamondbacks to acquire both Suarez and Gallen. If and when the DBacks decide to sell, that team has everything we need
  7. If I'm being objective, I think the Cubs are the 3rd best team in the NL right now. It's kind of hard not to be impressed with what Philly has done without Harper the last month, and they easily have the best rotation in the NL. Possibly even the game. The Dodgers are the Dodgers. I hope the Cubs have both of these teams top of mind as they go into the trade deadline. Because the Phillies would be a nightmare playoff matchup with all the lefties they have in that rotation. Both are beatable in a 5 or 7 game series but it'll take some aggressive moves.
  8. Barring a miracle, looks like the division lead will be down to 1 game. Shocking after where they were just 2 weeks ago
  9. He can't draw a walk to save his life. That'll be his next thing to work on, to become a true MVP caliber player
  10. Not looking great. Astros have a great bullpen and Valdez doesn't look like he's coming out anytime soon anyways
  11. Not really mad at the Altuve HR, he's a great player. But a bit disappointed that they are getting completely blanked by Valdez..
  12. I'm not trying to diminish his success or anything or be a hater but he is facing a mostly right handed lineup. It's a good matchup for him. And I'm enjoying watching how he's bounced back from the 1st inning
  13. That's fine I guess When the Cubs acquire some real starting pitching at the deadline, it'll probably take the edge off for a lot of us
  14. Pretty sure I said Jamo is "mid", and "average", I never said he sucks. I said Colin Rea sucks.. and... he kinda does based on his career numbers?
  15. Yeah, Steele is so underrated. I'd take him when he's at his best over Valdez
  16. Disagree completely on Jamo being a #3. He's got a mid 4 FIP in 3 years with the Cubs, and a negative WAR for 2 of his 3 seasons here. This is a guy you'd want to pitch in a game 3 of a playoff series? He's a #4 or #5 on a good team. Not overpaid I guess because he fills a lot of innings. But not really that great. Definition of average.
  17. Do you serve as an apologist for every mediocre pitcher that exists on this team? LOL yesterday you came at me for saying that Rea sucks. Even though most people on this board would agree with that statement 🤷‍♂️
  18. That's why I roll my eyes at the Mitch Keller rumors. He's Jamo 2.0.
  19. I hope Busch can figure it out someday vs lefties and never be taken out of the lineup. Because he is really special.
