  1. Don’t really see the appeal of adding Kittredge and Soroka to the pen. I guess if Kittredge replaces Pressly, then okay? Fine I guess. It’s fine. Doesn’t move the needle much, but pretty meh. He’s a solid dependable medium leverage reliever
  2. That’s true. It was a SSS of 50 games in A ball, but you’re right. Which is kind of why I said “they at least didn’t screw him up.” And agree with the rest. Elijah had major swing and miss concerns on draft day and they haven’t done anything with him.
  3. James Wood has developed well. Dylan Crews not so much. CJ Abrams hardly played in the minors with Washington. I agree with your point, just pointing out that they at least didn’t screw up James Wood
  4. He’s never played 162 games in a season either. He’s been on pace multiple years. I don’t think predicting 20/20 seasons on the regular over 162 games and above average defense at a premium position is a reach. I think it’s a very fair assessment of his potential.
  5. An above average defensive CF that’s likely a 20/20 guy most seasons would be a perennial 3+ WAR player. That’s extremely valuable. I think you’re severely underselling Alcantara and Caissie
  6. I know what Abel is ranked and Wiggins is freshly climbing the rankings, but I think Wiggins has much higher upside than Abel. I understand the point of the tweet… yes technically that would be the Cubs equivalent, but it’s not apples to apples
  7. Feels pretty even honestly. About what I would expect. A pretty solid upside SP and a toolsy A ball player. Nothing crazy but also potentially good haul.
  8. Alcantara and Wicks for Suarez seems stout man. I know it’s a sellers market, but I just can’t get there with how Shaw is playing. I’d rather just go get Castro, Jax, and a SP than Suarez if that’s the cost.
  9. New TDL article from Passan and Olney this morning. Very few Cubs mentions. One sentence of maybe Ryan or Cease if the Cubs “value the cost.” A slight Merril Kelly mention. Then a Shane Beiber mention as a possibility. That’s about it.
  10. There’s 100 ways to also look at this. I think if you’re talking about the next 10 years, nobody would choose Bellinger over Tucker over the next 10. And without getting Tucker in here this year, he may not have chose us in free agency had he just played out his final year in Houston. Maybe he goes to New York, Boston, LA, etc instead. I think having him play this season for us will be a major boost in his free agent decision though. I mean sure, he’s going to the highest bidder and might go elsewhere regardless, but I definitely think it helps him and us get to the point where he chooses to play here for 10 more years.
  11. Needed this from Brown today. Glad we didn’t have to cover 6+ innings with the pen
  12. Tucker is also 2 years younger and has a higher fWAR (4 to 3.3 for Belli). Kyle is also coming off an abysmal month of baseball. He’s sure to heat back up again and I imagine by end of season, it will be significantly better than Bellinger.
  13. Nightengale says Cubs are targeting Keller and would give up Caissie for him ETA: I would assume they wouldn’t do Caissie for Keller straight up, but only if it included Bednar also?
  14. I’m not giving up Rojas or Bally for Suarez. Not with Shaw seemingly figuring it out. Plus Matt’s defense is legit at 3rd which provides great value by itself. The more I think about it, the more I lean towards not trading for Suarez. I won’t be mad if they do, but I’m just not sure that’s where our resources are best spent
  15. Such a dilemma with riding with Shaw or trading for Suarez. Glad I’m not making that decision. I mean obviously if the baseball gods promised Jed that post ASB Matt Shaw would play this way ROS, he likely doesn’t make that trade. But what if Shaw is just on a heater and can’t really sustain this level of play? Again, tough decision and I don’t know where I stand. If we did get Suárez, I agree that Shaw should stay up and be a super utility player and still get a good bit of playing time. Deepens the bench and provides insurance in case of injury. I’m absolutely not making the move for Suarez if Caissie, Wiggins, or Bally is involved. Also while I’m posting, shoutout Cade Horton. He looks great. I hate that there is potentially a massive innings decrease in his future because he’s rolling, but regardless it’s good to see him looking the part of future TORP.
  16. I think everybody needs to take a deep breath and relax. The Cubs are in a bit of a rut right now. It’s part of the ebbs and flows of a baseball season. The Sox have been playing well lately. The Brewers have been scorching hot, but have now lost 2/3 and scored a total of 1 run in those 2 losses. I mean the Blue Jays have the best record in baseball and only have 2 more wins than the Cubs. The sky is not falling. We are fine. It’s a good team that’s about to get better in the next few days. The Cubs have as good of a chance as anybody of winning the World Series. There is no dominant team in baseball this year. There’s about 9 teams who are all pretty similar. I think it’s going to be a super fun sprint to the end of the season and playoffs.
  17. Incase anybody cares what Dom has to say. Never know if he has legit info or not, but I do know him and Ian Happ are friends so who knows
  18. I understand why he made the move. You’re not getting anything for Mervis outside of a lottery ticket. Might as well take a chance on a former top prospect from not that long ago and see if you can make something happen. I’m with everybody else in that I hope we upgrade his roster spot at the deadline.
  19. So I did and Edward Cabrera has been better since 2023 lol. Also Edward is 27 and having his best season yet. He’s figuring it out. The stuff is really good. I’d love to get him into our organization and see what else we can unlock that Miami probably can’t.
  20. I just think you’re being unrealistic here. I mean sure, I imagine they would like to be 2 deep at every single position, but it’s just not happening. You’re asking for a upgrade at backup CF, upgrade over Berti and Brujan, 2 SP, 2 relievers… that’s like adding 7 players at the deadline and depleting your farm system and any depth you might have behind the big names at the top. I’ve never seen a team add 6-8 players at the deadline (not talking about prospects, I’m talking about a team going for it and adding 6-8 MLB quality players). Maybe it has happened before, but none that I recall.
  21. PCA is never going to sit (outside of a day off) due to his defense at a premium position.
  22. I think you are making this a bigger deal than it really is. It’s not much difference hitting 5th than it is 6th or 7th. Even if Craig moved him further down, we are basically asking should he hit below Dansby and Happ. I just don’t think that will make a major difference. Obviously Craig doesn’t either.
