  1. Yea sad no Castro against a lefty today. Chalking it up to allowing him to get accommodated.
  2. Honestly, I hate that we're comparing our deadline to the Brewers right now (Yes, division foes, blah). They're always going to do the small market thing and make moves that improve their margins. Miller, Lockridge, Vaughn, etc.
  3. Great analogy @Bertz. D grade from me overall. Castro is a great get/fit. The other three moves are all fine on their own. Didn't address our #1 need or shift to higher quality RP when the SP deals fell through. Going into the deadline, IMO, I think there was a an argument for us being the second best team in the NL in terms of playoff caliber roster (Phillies were more complete, and I don't know how to judge these current Dodgers). After the deadline, I personally put us behind the Phillies, SDP, and Mets. Dodgers probably, but again tough to gauge their injury riddled roster as of now and who they will have available come the playoffs. But the point is, our main playoff competition got much better and addressed major holes in their rosters, while we tuned up the margins.
  4. General question - are farm system rankings (BA, Pipeline, etc) actually a ways off from what the industry actually thinks? E.g. Yankees were the 24th and 25th ranked system coming into the season (and only have 3 top 100 prospects in most all updated rankings), how are they able to land Bednar and Dovall without giving up a top 100 prospect if their farm system is actually ranked that low? Or did Cashman just take advantage of the Pirates (I know the catcher is a solid get) and Posey.?
  5. I’m starting to really believe Jed prioritizes sustained success over a “go for it” mentality. Keeping Caissie, Mo, Alcantara, Wiggins, Cade, etc, all intact, while no prospect is a guarantee, you can look at the prospect core combined with our current big league core and say “Yea, there’s enough there to be a playoff contending team year in and year out for the foreseeable future”. If this season, with the second best record in all of baseball, having Tucker, with a major hole at the top of our rotation, isn’t the year to push your chips in, then I don’t believe Jed will ever do it. It’s almost like Theo made him gun shy by completely dismantling the farm and Jed had to clean up the mess.
  6. Brother, you didn’t just today find out the asking prices today. You can’t swim in those waters without a better backup plan….
  7. Oh god here comes some Brewers magic on Montgomery
  8. Hoping for something out of left field like Robbie Ray, etc. Otherwise I'm going to puke.
  9. Come on Jed. Maybe Cease is moved last second now that they got Cortes
  10. I'm not sure how it's going to play out against RHP, but against LHP our bench is going to be stacked if we have Busch and maybe Happ on it.
  11. Yea I guess once they get Varsho back they move Lukes to RF > Barger back to 3b. But I fully suspect a trade to happen there with Varsho's injury history.
  12. That's the Blue Jays current starting 3b? Probably not a good sign for us and Castro
