  1. Makes you wonder if this makes the Rays the favorites for Marte now. Moved Lowe’s salary/opened 2b and Pepiot/Baz both have 3 years of control left, if they are the type of young arm the DBacks are looking for.
  2. Sounds like the Pirates would also land Mangum and Montgomery from the Rays. Seems like this is a done deal with all the names being released
  3. Phillies just freed up $7.5m. Strahm has been a good arm though.
  4. This has been the worry all along waiting for Imai. Jed can save the offseason by landing him, but it will probably require him going outside his comfort zone.
  5. I think there’s absolutely regression coming for Collins next season with teams adjusting to him. He has been consistent in the minors though, so maybe he’ll settle in the 105-110 wRC+ range with good defense at some point over the next 5 seasons. I just like this route so much better than moving Ragans for Duran as an example. Ragans is a dude, and I would never trade him.
  6. Good trade for the Royals imo. Hopefully that puts an end to the idea of them moving Ragans (Unless it’s to us of course).
  7. $3.75m it is
  8. Looks at fangraphs vFA 88 mph, shakes head
  9. If we sign one of the remaining top arms (Imai, King, etc), would you guys consider trading for Tyler O'Neil as he seems to be the odd guy out now in Baltimore? Owed 2/$33m - if we get them to kick in some cash, it could make the numbers work. He was hurt and bad last year, so maybe not worth the squeeze but that might make them enticed to unload his contract without asking for much prospect capital. He does fit some needs - righty power bat with a career 145 wRC+ against lefties that can play corner OF. Don't love the idea of TON with his injury history, but also don't hate this route either as it's going to be tough to land a decent bat if we spend up in FA on SP.
  10. That's where I was leaning. Redsox have a ton of assets, would think they make a splash this off-season with moving some.
  11. Some - https://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/breaking-news/article/diamondbacks-star-ketel-marte-apologizes-for-taking-time-off-after-all-star-game-which-reportedly-led-to-team-rift-044838659.html?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly93d3cuZ29vZ2xlLmNvbS8&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAAJhY1f0q23XV7t1ZyVGfaARd44SyUgu6g82Z0Sf-5YmINfPSFNq2sNd1dvAWmoIQ5SvRz5l48yW4CPkjXUoG7yUWTuJ7g7e78SzD9hsP_tH3_2pLq6hVORVy3kGyfA8zedk3wThiuKfsU4Ggg_HwsXzpdACSi2yqyVRlA70m4She
  12. I've seen "Superstar return" thrown around and also an emphasis on major league SP coming back. I thought the Red Sox would be a good partner for them with their plethora of young OFers and have a couple nice young arms. Seems like they are hoping for someone to send them an offer they can't refuse.
  13. Haha, I didn't want to mention them. But it's got to happen at some point right? Right???
  14. Mariners have a big hole at 3b....
  15. Yea and you can interchange Suarez and possibly Imai for King and make it work. If the Cubs are only adding one more BP arm and swimming in the Stanek waters with that one arm, it seems like this may be the blueprint we are trending towards.
  16. I posted this in the winter meetings thread, but a Stanek signing would line with a King + Okamoto offseason numbers wise.
  17. Cots has us at $195m projected and Spotrac $193m estimated. $244m is basically our hard cap. Okamoto is projected around $16m AAV per and King $20-$25m AAV(Depending on 3 or 4 year deal). Both are possible, but leaves little room for a big BP arm upgrade unless we move salary elsewhere or swing one in a trade. I wouldn't hate if that's how the offseason played out. Not super flashy, but also not horrible and fills two major needs.
