    For the catcher it’s an actual inner ear piece. What I’m saying is, there is no difference between the catcher calling the pitch or the SP calling it - the communication is the same in the catchers ear.

    I believe the catchers can hear at all times through their ear piece, ideally to make sure they selected the correct button.

    It most likely has to due with Cease's splits. Lefties hit him much better.

    Both homeruns have came off his slider - both 85 mph and catching way too much of the plate. The pitcher in me knew after he came high and in with a fastball to Tatis that a breaking ball was coming next. Seemed like Tatis had the same thoughts and was sitting on it. Doubt you'll see much peripherally, but maybe he just needs to locate his breaking pitch better and rely on other pitches to get ahead to where he can throw the slider as more of a chase pitch out of the zone?

    Good horsefeathers Smyly. I wouldn't of hated it if Counsel decided to start him in the 5th against Ohtani/Freeman instead of letting them get a third look at Hendricks.

    Pretty sure it was 2-2. Believe the ump called the pitch before that a strike but Boog and the scoreboard had it wrong.

    We're going to find out what our offense is all about over the next 3-4 series. If you look at the scheduled pitching matchups over that time, I don't think it's possible to get a tougher stretch in regards to the highend SP we are lined up against.

    Didn't the Pirates start off something like 20-8 last year? They've got some nice young pieces, but I don't think they are deep enough to compete for a full year.
