  1. Don’t think we’re looking at a phantom injury here…
  2. Good chance Riley sits today after being pulled early in yesterdays game with side tightness. Might get lucky and have him out a few games.
  3. Oof don’t look at the EVs from Pirates hitters today. It’s not pretty for our pitchers.
  4. Yan has dropped multiple strikes today that ended up being called balls.
  5. His velo was down the last start after he pitched 6 the previous game. Gave up a homer on his slowest fastball of the season. At least worth noting since it was his first time pitching on 4 days rest.
  6. Excellent! This has been one of the missing pieces of data imo. Also, you guys might like to checkout the SwingGraphs twitter account. They analyze Vertical Bat Angle and Attack Angle to come up with swing path scores.
  7. Busch is eligible - https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/here-are-the-potential-ppi-eligible-players-who-made-opening-day-rosters/ "Also, Michael Busch and Joey Ortiz have been added. Both were traded in the offseason, keeping potential PPI eligibility intact. Only players traded in-season lose PPI eligibility."
  8. Exactly this. The back foot breaking ball (Almonte twice yesterday), the splitter in the dirt, etc, look fantastic when guys are swinging at them. They pile up the BB column when guys are able to lay off them. As long as the RP can consistently throw his fastball for a strike when needed, I can accept walks on good chase pitches.
  9. Have we heard if Steele will have an innings/pitch count restriction?
  10. Take with a grain of salt since it’s coming from Kap, but worth noting at least.
  11. He’s sooo late on these fastballs. It almost looks like it’s in the glove when he starts his swing.
  12. Damn, unlucky. We’ve had opportunities to really make Peralta work and get his pitch count up there but haven’t capitalized do to various bad decisions.
  13. Agreed. Would of rather seen them make Peralta work a little more after the walk to Wisdom instead of giving him a free 1 pitch out.
  14. Same thing happened with Kyle Bradish in his rehab starts. Everyone was concerned with his velo being down because of his elbow injury. Then he made his first mlb start this year on Thurs and velo was back to normal.
