  1. It’s going to be an interesting follow to see what becomes of the statcast audit. Also, has anyone seen what his max velo was?
  2. That’s kind of an old school mindset. Most of the top teams have legit hitting catchers nowadays.
  3. Wish he would’ve pitched around O’Neil on 3-0 there or at least not give him a cookie. They only have a couple guys who can beat you and he’s one.
  4. I'm with you, there's multiple concerns with Mervis. It comes down to giving him enough ABs to where the front office can make an educated determination if he's a big league piece moving forwards or if they need to move on from him. There's a line with giving a guy too many PA's vs not enough. It's going to be different for every player and ultimately the guys making millions of dollars get to make that decision. I would rather give a guy too many PAs and have him fail than give him too few and have him flourish elsewhere, E.g. Muncy. Cost controlled pre-arb players that produce are so dang valuable to orgs.
  5. I know it's human nature to be reactionary as fans, but we've got to give these guys time. It's been 7 PA this season. Being a big leaguer is extremely difficult, and for a lot, it takes 100s of PAs to settle in. Mervis may not make it as a big leaguer, but they're going to give him another extended opportunity to see if he can adjust. Players typically do better in their second MLB stint. Just to show how tough it is to be a big leaguer, look at Jackson Holiday. He's literally looked like the worst MLB player in the league over his first 36 PAs, and that's a guy who wasn't challenged at all in the minors.
  6. Agreed. His defense and baserunning alone would add value. Especially to a team who has not been aggressive at all on the base paths this year.
  7. Or the ump gives Wicks the strike 3 call to Diaz the pitch before. Baseball things.
  8. Hey friends, what does Jaxon Wiggins time table look like this year?
  9. Since 4/8, 32 PA with a 207/281/207 line. Cooper was absolutely fine in his role and had the huge game against the Rockies early on, but I find it extremely hard to believe the guy would force his way off a big league club after not landing a guaranteed big league deal this off-season. I still think the Red Sox is a likely landing spot with all their injuries.
  10. Wind is absolutely a factor, but they squared him up well that inning.
