  1. how about "grossman is flustered and terrified" as a reason for taking him out?
  2. This is a really good point that I was about to mention. The Bears are really set up to win THIS year. Hell, you know the defense is going to be worse next year, just based on the loss of Lance Briggs alone. They have to go for it this season, Grossman's development be damned. If Griese can help the team win more this year, they have to do that.
  3. not really. It's an awful lot easier to hide a slumping number 7 hitter than it is to hide a slumping qb.
  4. Tree, the choice is between a young bad and an older, veteran bad. Why go with the older bad? because it seems pretty reasonable that he will be less bad. if orton was starting and playing this way, would you be saying "leave him in, griese is bad too?"
  5. the griese jokes are lame. the only magical power griese might possess over grossman is the amazing ability to have a qb rating higher than zero.
  6. grossman has more than one option. he should know that if he's throwing downfield in this weather, berrian had better be pretty open. he wasn't.
  7. grossman has other options, he's just ignoring them to go down the field every play. it's not like turner is calling plays where rex has no choice but to throw it deep.
  8. i'm certainly not willing to trust an interpreter to the extent that his failure would result in my conviction of a serious offense. if you are, well, fair play to you, i guess.
  9. Never played it regularly, but has appeared in 48 career games there. We would not like Kielty in CF. I'm fairly certain the Cubs wouldn't consider him as an option there. A Murton type fielder or worse? You do realize that Murton was ranked as above average by several different defensive metrics, right? It surprises a lot of people (including me) because he looks awkward out there sometimes, but he has a lot more range than he usually gets credit for. Anyway, all the metrics I've seen rank Kielty lower than Murton as a left fielder. If the metrics really do say that, I'd agree with them as far as Kielty vs. Murton goes. Murton's probably better, but not by a ton, and neither is a real candidate for CF.
  10. this is only a good idea if the cubs feel like winning the world series.

  12. i'm not normally one to harp on these things, but payton is also an amazingly dumb player.
  13. What is one man's privacy and pride compared to the hopes and dreams of millions? Besides, he was hardly "destroyed" — he still holds down a decent job in Chicago, hasn't been harmed or burned out of his home or anything of the sort. I wish I had been at Game 6, if only to have had a chance to pitch a stale beer in his direction. He stupidly inserted himself into this storyline and deserves no sympathy. agreed 100%
  14. good call. I'm pretty sure we don't have to since he's already signed.
  15. hopefully something bad happens to albert soon
  16. Reasons? the games you like definitely side with the 360
  17. So is this definitely 8 years guaranteed, no option years at the end?
  18. remember after they played the heat and everyone was talking about how godlike skiles and paxson were?
