I've tried 5 times now but still don't quite get. There are people who will tell you, even now, that a large portion of the Cubs reduced payroll is going to things like scouting, player development, infrastructure, etc. when it would be really hard to come up with a way for this stuff to even make a small dent in that money. This crazy computer that practically takes up an entire room is one of the most insane things they could have dreamt of buying that fits within that realm (outside of a new building/facility or something) and it still costs less than a decent player pickup off the scrap heap. i bet all those people are at bleacher nation
