  1. THE CUBS WAY: play well and maybe you'll get traded to someplace that won't make your life a miserable hell
  2. if theo can't do anything without a top payroll he isn't special and we should've hired someone else who might have been.
  3. Actually, considering we have owners who can't even run the team like a small market one, I've enjoyed their work and the fact that they have been creative in trying to restock the system through signing guys and flipping them. Which they have done a strong job with. Not every GM would have even thought of the concept, much less be able to pull it off multiple times. Obviously, the trade to get Travis Wood was nice. The pickup of Luis Valbuena for nothing was impressive. The signings of role players such as David DeJesus and Dioner Navarro were cool. The list is never going to be standout impressive considering they have no real money to spend, but I wonder what another GM would have been able to do with the resources provided the last few years? I'm confident that without Theo and Jed, we are even worse off than we are now. Edit to add: Again, I'm a Theo guy. So I realize I'm bias. you are basically giving them credit for getting one okay player per year. this is the faintest of faint praise.
  4. yeah, the 100th birthday game was definitely it for me. i'll check in occasionally, but i probably saw 90% of the innings this year up to that point. no more.
  5. DROP trumbo ADD bruce THNX buddy
  6. I should be mad but I'm really not. He's right. good for him. must be nice to not hang out with losers.
  7. all great points sounds like you should quit following baseball bye

  9. i am treymon welcome to gam thread stupid cubs looked pretty good a couple days ago. were we ever so young? this game is on the worst channel i have ever heard of. hopefully you can't watch it. even if you do get this godforsaken channel, don't watch this terrible game -- IT'S FRIDAY NIGHT! http://i.minus.com/iKULhkmrfvEgc.gif
  10. corporations are people. sammy has to sit in a room with the cubs logo an apologize for being mean to it.
  11. He literally quit on his team mid-season. That's supposed to be the ultimate no-no. sosa should announce he retired on the last day of the season in 2004 and then unretired the next day. then he can be our hitting coach.
  12. LOL at showing a mostly empty rooftop with only a handful of cold, unhappy people while doing the contractually mandated plug for wrigleyville rooftops
  13. wekse is a great man
  14. fergie jenkins got arrested trying to take drugs through customs, let's have him shot the next time he comes to sing take me out to the ballgame. FOR THE CHILDREN.
  15. the cubs are obviously going on a 9-game winning streak now just to spite all of us and bring glory to logan's family
  16. roster management is the easiest part of the front office's job and with a smart bunch of guys like we have there's no way we'll screw it up
  17. and yet they both have california connections. INTERESTING.
  18. If the offseason, the cubs sign Mike Adams and Koji Uehara, maybe take a flier on Joakim Soria, it's easy to imagine this bullpen being in much better shape next year. That'll be fine as long as you don't mind Arrieta, Hendricks, Rusin as our 3-4-5 to go with the worst starting OF in baseball again the bullpen is the easiest part of a team to build, with a smart front office like ours it will be no problem to pull one together from scraps
  19. i have to think they just assume the fans are against it or something. maybe we should start a twitter campaign! everyone come up with hashtags to celebrate sosa's return to wrigley.
  20. it is surprising how much i care about this, but it really does suck that pretty much the only time all year the cubs will get national attention (wrigley field is the top trending topic on twitter!) is a game that the we lose in embarrassing fashion and set up a million easy jokes about how it was the perfect way to commemorate the anniversary.
