    i don't really see shifts as some big problem baseball needs to confront, but i also think this is a lot of needless handwringing. even if they do implement one of these rules (which i suspect is very unlikely), it wouldn't be a big deal at all and we'd all have forgotten about it after a couple months. all that said, i do feel like rizzo would benefit a decent amount from the rule change, so let's do it.

    how would the hitter get his signs from the third base coach? One foot in one foot out Jersey is right, one foot in one foot out works in pretty much every league outside the MLB and MiLB. I think enforcing just that one rule would make a world of a difference. if you tell players who are accustomed to taking all the time in the world between pitches that this is the new rule, i really think they'll just stand there with one foot in the box for fifteen seconds or whatever.

    also i am excited for the year the clubhouse renovations happen and are delayed and all the players have to change in the bathroom before and after the games.

    i don't like it when the cubs screw stuff up and it is embarrassing. meatballs (cubs fans and otherwise) are going to delight in ripping the team for this mess. on the other hand, i like it when weird things happen and not having bleachers for a month and a half is going to be really weird.
