  1. i think z and his awful pitching should be to blame. if this means the end of barrett, i hope the cubs have the good sense to get something worthwhile back for him. either way, if they trade him sooner rather than later, it'll be another awesome case of hendry selling low. this team is going nowhere, and if you wait until the deadline and barrett has a hot streak or two between now and then, you can get something back from a team looking for an offensive-minded catcher. trade him now, and he's just a fighting moron who can't hit.
  2. It really looks like it's all Carlos to me. Barrett stepped toward Zambrano, but he didn't really seem all that aggressive to me. It certainly didn't look like Michael was going to take a swing or anything. Z should be suspended and fined. agreed, he may have been about to make contact with z, but it sure wasn't going to be in any kind of aggressive fashion, certainly nothing like what zambrano did.
  3. it's okay guys, i'm sure this is still just lou messing with people jkjk everyone has to admit that he's a moron now
  4. You mean in between innings, the only time Clemens will actually be with the team? Or perhaps in the shower, right before he towels off and scrams for the airport to get back to Texas until his next start? well played
  5. when you talk, do you actually emphasize the words you put in all caps? that would be hilarious, because they're more or less chosen at random.
  6. It shouldn't even be a possibility, though. Dempster is a proven failure as a starter. Which makes me question Piniella's decision making. The man can clearly read a stat sheet properly based on his position player decisions (for the most part). What about making a failed starter a starter again makes any sense? Let's see if Piniella actually makes Demp a starter. He could have just been trying to end media interrogation. suggesting that you're going to do something incredibly stupid seems like a bad way to get reporters to stop asking you questions.
  7. Any reason given for why the changes coming had to wait until Monday, and not be enacted today? It's not the best reason, but it's probably because of all the attention surrounding the White Sox series.
  8. http://www.baseball-reference.com/pi/
  9. Prior has been gone the whole year, how is that a "Soap Opera?" don't soap operas have twists and surprises? What could be easier to predict than Wood and Prior being hurt? haha, this really would be an awful soap opera. the "twist" was that prior sort of tried to pitch in spring training, but everybody saw that he still sucked and eventually he died like every other year.
  10. AAAA pitcher. we don't know for sure, but the only way to find out is to awkwardly jerk him around between the big team and aaa for a while, and then take all the credit when he does well in september
  11. who the hell is playing ss and 2b for san fran? how does no one get that?
  12. BUMP this thread is too funny to let die let's keep it cooling on the window sill all summer long
  13. lol cherry pie http://media.scout.com/Media/Image/32/328407m.jpghttp://allthingsvalleyleague.typepad.com/photos/uncategorized/rocky_cherry_head.jpg CHERRY PIE
  14. i hear that NASA used their computers to try to calculate David Eckstein's heart/grit factor, and the computers CRASHED i think they had his heart in English and his grit in metric doh!
  15. the cubs already have a computer, and it can figure avg w/risp way faster than any of these guys
  16. How do you single out Sosa and Biggio (both terrible arguments anyway) and not mention how Barry Bonds is basically hobbling on one leg in left field? And Bonds is going to sit out on the road to make sure he breaks the record at home... real team player there. Seeing how Barry Bonds has the highest OBP and SLG in the league, I think it'd be a little silly to say that he's too old to play. hahaha, yeah, i think barry might not be the best example of a guy who should've been mentioned as "selfish and only hurting his team."
  17. And like 7 home runs. I don't think this would be a very good exchange. Let's start hitting it over the fence instead of off it.
  18. perhaps in the future they should have guzman work on getting people out
  19. Really? Sure is weird how we punish people for doing something there's no way we could expect them to do. I think you absolutely should expect all people of all ages to have the modicum of responsibility requisite to not drive home when drunk and threaten the lives of others.
  20. the minute nate silver injected him with nerd serum
  21. i'm going to go out on a limb and bet that gary thorne doesn't come up with any more big scoops for a while. revealing your sources only to have them deny your story can't be good for a journalist's career.
  22. I've not heard of this statistic before, but it seems like a fatally flawed one. You can't just compare the number of pitches a manager let his starter throw on average without taking into account who those pitchers are. Bad pitchers get pulled before they get deep into the game; they don't pitch well enough to make it to 100 pitches.
  23. =D> =D> =D> =D> [/i] You know, I'm not sure which I find more annoying...bufoonish idiots who proclaim that "Mark Prior is a wuss" or condescending stat-geeks who project their own sniveling insecurities onto others. hahahahahahha that makes no sense at all, AND it shows you have no idea who or what you're talking about. kevin goldstein may write for bp, but he's no "stat-geek." he came over from baseball america, and is definitely more a scout guy than a stat guy, although he'd be the first to tell you that such distinctions are largely bogus. nice try, though.
  24. /crickets chirping in Mississippi enlighten me. What does UK/pinghitter do? He's a scout. For one of the best talent-procuring teams in the majors. Bwahahahahaha. That sure did backfire. http://www.gentheoryrubbish.com/archives/images/george.jpg that's GOTTA hurt!
