This is hardly a low risk high reward situation. The risk is very real that you threw away $4.5m on a guy that will provide nothing. The reward is maybe one season of a good reliever. the risk also included that fact that when he sucks, his stupid contract will give him way more leash than he deserves.

I mean it's not really going to happen but like Castillo could C and DH and backup 1b and maybe learn to play emergency LF. But I'm grasping because I don't want to come to terms with the fact that we're going to tear up an awesome catching platoon just for the classic veteran defensive backup who is a skid mark inside the batter's box. i'm with you completely on this one. doing anything with castillo besides dumping him for trash sounds great to me. he seems like a guy we should be able to find non-widely accepted value from if we are as smart as i want us to be.
