  1. I used to love leaving work at lunch on Fridays to watch the Cubs. Think they have lost just about everyone this year
  2. Counsell knows 1 run deficit is pretty much a blowout with this offense
  3. I have been to 2 Cardinal games this year because I was close and got really nice tickets cheap. Neither game was close to a sell out, but they were weeknight games. Fans are very disgruntled with management. The Cardinals have built a very strong fan base thru the years for being a well run franchise. They are a mid market team that can easily slip to being a small market franchise if they do not fix the problems soon.
  4. Except for the Cardinals I can't think of team I dislike more in pro sports
  5. 12 to 1? Must of had a few tequila shots
  6. I really like the articles and dont mind where they are at. I kind of agree about megathreads. Good example is how sick I was about Bellinger discussion this off season that drug on forever. Would need to dig thru that to find discussions about other things if they were there. Like Morel to 3b should have been its own thread. Talk about Matt Chapman its own thread. I really like that their are a lot of good analytic baseball minds who help this old man understand the game more. I think sometimes though it can be kind of snobbish if a not so analytic old time stat guy brings up some old time baseball thinking Politics strays from political thread some.
  7. I like putting sports away in the off season. I think one of the reasons the NFL has kind of lost me is that it never seems to go away.
  8. All of the OSU and MSU fans have me convinced that Michigan is getting their National Title stripped and will probably have to have their players(none of whom will be allowed to have a scholarship) clean up all the opposing B1G stadiums after the games are over. I did see that NCAA has finally allowed helmet speakers. Michigan again leaving a lasting legacy on CFB
  9. My wife is a Phillies fan so I was subjected to a couple of White Sox games this weekend....I am not blaming Grifol for this, but how is he not fired yet, or something. I get they have no talent, but what a bad bunch of baseball players on top of it.
  10. 2 managers who were way ahead of their time when it came to OBP. Not sure if it was by choice or accident.
  11. Seems to me there is actual evidence that there is at least one other team left in the tourney who Illinois would not be favored against.
  12. Bellinger disappoints Suzuki gets MVP votes Taillon and out of rotation by end of year Mastrobouni does not suck
  13. I never really like Sammy that much while he played and was quite convinced he was juicing long before it was popular to believe so. But I was also quite aware that he was far from the only one. I did understand just how good he was though. I also disliked Sammy for non juicing reasons. But the day he left early in 2004 the whole Cub narrative on him changed....as did many of the fans attitudes towards him. And I thought it was hypocritical. I also believe Rickets is just placating to those fans. I also believe that Sammy needs to get with someone to give him good advice on what to say when a mike is in his face...nothing new there
  14. Absolutely. I really don't mind being bad if the team is bad with young kids getting better. Nothing is worse then being what the Cubs seemed like they were almost all my life up until 2000....older and not good
  15. He is signed thru 2026. I think it was an okay signing. If someone else plays their way into the lineup I don't think Happ's contract is going to be a burden to the team if he plays a reduced role. But it also provides a proven player no one plays themselves into the role.
  16. This reply has nothing to do with Bellinger....just wanted to reminisce that how much of my late teen, early 20s Februarys were spent going to the book store every other day to see if James Baseball Abstract was out yet. I really hope he is still healthy and contributes to baseball discussion for many more years, even though I know he has cut way back in recent years
  17. I think his reality is he has more value with the Cubs then we would get back in a trade, Therefore he is kind of screwed unless he just forces the issue with his play
  18. If I was Harbaugh I would take Minter with me
  19. At the end of the day football is still a physical game. If you tackle well and can run the ball you will be hard to beat. I think thd reason Alabama and Georgia are who they are is because the play this way with high level recruits. Michigan's doesn't recruit at that level but they developed players. I know Washington kept it close because they brought their safties up and Michigan was reluctant to take advantage. But in the end Michigan was just way more physical and it really showed in how many Washington players were getting banged up
  20. Seems to be a lot of "great job representing the B1G" on social media. Wonder how Michigan fans feel about being so supported by other B1G fans?
